USA blu-ray sales have started emerging, and the numbers have the first week of release numbers here:

Made about 4M on it's first week on blu-ray. Hard to measure until a few months later.

Thats a solid performance.

Higher than duds like Red Sparrow ( twice as much) and nearly 4 times as much as super duds like Man from Uncle.

Its right on par with Dracula Untold. Should hopefullt do $8 - 10m from us bluray.

They are great numbers for home media. Maybe it can sway a decision for a sequel.

Ok guys here's the convo:

A: Do you know if GK films and Warner Bros wants to make a Tomb Raider sequel?

B: They do want to but they are having some resistance from bosses...

A: Did they consider it a succes? It flopped in US but did amazing overseas, what they think about this film? Are they willing to turn it into a franchise?

B: They see it as a "mixed opportunity". I think they want to turn it into a franchise but it depends on the reception of sequel first - they'd want it to do well globally.

That's all, not really much but it seems like it's up to the "bosses".
I'm not saying you need to trust him but he was right about almost everything about other stuff.

Thanks for that! It's nice to see home media sales were positive and there's still talk of a sequel somewhere. It's worth it to see how things hold up til the end of the year I think.

Hopefully SOTTR will be successful.. Maybe that could help with the sequel too?

I want to see Alicia as Lara again so much.. She deserves a sequel!

Whaaaat is it me or it is phenomenal ? 4M in one week ? Never I though the movie will do better than the game and only in the States (and don't forget the film flopped a bit there in theatres). Also, I thought BluRay did not sell anymore, actually far less than video games. Guess I was wrong ?
