Lightbulb The Ideas and Inspiration thread

This thread is for the posting of idea fragments and pieces of inspiration to base your LE projects on. If you're stuck for ideas you can browse what others have posted to see if any inspire you to create a level

To avoid possible plagarism - and so that 17 people don't all start exactly the same progect - limit your inspiration(s) to no more than two lines of text, or two pictures.

Ideas can be:

* a possible motive to drive Lara through the story (eg, someone close to her goes missing).

* the name of a character Lara meets at some point in the story (be inventive! Dr Smith of Woading Street doesn't work, but Miranda T. Blackhorse of Torchwood Lighthouse sounds much more exciting!).

* a line of text descibing part of an ancient myth - any culture (eg, Hero went to Island of Death, delivered Maiden from jaws of Monster, never seen again.....).

* a made-up artefact (again, be inventive!).

* a location, real or imagined.

* a list of colours, sounds, smells and textures that sets the scene or mood you might want to capture (gloomy, dank, spooky, cold, claustraphobic - yep, it's the Cairo levels of TR4 )

1) A Viking burial ship loaded with treasure sank in AD 799. The ghost of the dead King is said to guard the sunken remains........

2) Perseus stole the Eye from the Graeae Sisters on his quest for Medusa's head. Legend says it might let a person see the furture.......

3) Transylvania.

4) Hot, tropical, citrus smells, sound of surf crashing, a blood-curdling scream from a cave......

My WIP-level (Assyrian Secrets) links three ancient civilasations; Alexandria, Assyria and Atlantis itself. I just love linking ancient cultures

The third Reich and Hitler would also be a very cool thema. Nazi's and zombies are such a lovely combination.

Or stonehendge, the markets and temples of Tenochtitan, Catacombs of Paris, the forbidden city of China, Mars (ala Doom).. hmm.. so many possibilites

Is that picture actually based on archeological findings?!
Would be awesome to see something like that in real life!

Not to my knowledge . I was browsing for interesting pictures - I typed 'Valley' into Google, hit 'images' and this popped up. But it REALLY suits TR doesn't it?

I keep magazine clippings in a MASSIVE folder for my writing inspiration. I'll have a dig through there and post some to get the LE neurons fired

I'm a little surprised that this suggestion comes from the Netherlands rather than from the US, but alright...a deal's a deal, just don't complain afterwards.
