"I couldn't leave you!" --passage collapses, Werner takes off his hat and bows his head-- --searches for Lara for who knows how long, enough to find a backpack, unaware she was already rescued by a bedoin tribe and shaman-- NO PITY. AT ALL. SO OBVIOUS GUYZ.

^It was Jean Yves who never went looking for Lara. He gave her up for dead in TRC, well until he was replaced by Charles Kane that is
 But originally it was supposed to be Jean who is murdered.

EDIT: For the record, I've got to say, that airlock cutscene is perhaps my favorite in the entire franchise. I just love the cinematography, and something about Lara indignantly pacing back and forth at the end just speaks volumes to me about her character.
