Arrow TR5 HD Upscale x2

After seeing and being inspired by the wonderful work of GiovanniLucca's TR3 HD remaster project, and Peixoto's wonderful tool, I've decided to try tex mods out myself. Starting with TR5, I wanted a simple yet effective approach for my first tex mod of TR; all textures from TRC are upscaled from their original texture tile size (256x256) to (2048x2048) using a ReShade & waifu2x algorithm. Maps, Lara and sprites have all been upscaled with the algorithm (GPU powered). I've also touched on the font to a modern one with the upscale. Hopefully this minor tex mod will influence some others to do a remaster of TR5 textures as TR3 has now.

Download

Instructions to install is similar to GiovanniLucca's tut found here.

Installation step-by-step:

1. If you have not already, download the Peixoto Patch.
2. Unzip the file to a folder of your choice.
3. Download the upscaled textures from the link above.
4. Unzip the textures to a folder of your choice. It does not have to be in the same patch or game location.
5. Start the application Help.exe of the Patch folder.
6. In the list on the left side, look for Tomb Raider 5.
7. On the right side, you have all the instructions on how the patch works. Click Texture Swapping. Now in Configure and in Path click on "..." and choose where you unzipped the upscaled textures folder. The destination location should point to folders Dumps and Replacements of the unzipped file.
8. Scroll down until you reach Settings.
9. Turn on Allow Dynamic Super Resolution. This option will make the game run at the maximum resolution of your monitor, with the correct aspect ratio and FOV.
10. Turn on Anisotropic Filtering. To improve the rendering of textures.
11. Now on the left side, click Start and indicate the installation path of your game, in the game folder click PCtomb5.exe.

When you want to play the game with upscaled textures, start from the Help.exe application, choose Tomb Raider 5 from the list and click Start.

Nice, definitely better than nothing... I used an AI upscaler (ok, not 100% AI, but that neural network thing) for some old photos and it worked surprisingly well.

I don't want to jump into TR5 right now and i wonder how it looks like with your mod. I'm sure that it feels much sharper, but some screenshots would be nice.

I like Chronicles and it's a shame it suffers from some really low-resolution textures. I downloaded your package and it seems the textures really are just resized with a filter and they don't look too good when looking and them raw, but it seems from your screenshots they should look fine in the game. I will try these later, but in a standard resolution.

Finally a mod that doesn't ruin the original look. Nice work!
(I should try it now that I just started re-playing Chronicles yesterday )

Lovely work, indeed, but some textures looks too much cartoony imo
Some textures should be just re-made instead of just upscaling

Algorithm, no filter.
But there is an option to add a filter one them, I selected none as with that filter applied it'll look either washed out or cartoony.

I was thinking of doing TR2 next, if anyone fancy the iOS textures mod at all. I'd use that as a base, and upscale the untouched textures.
I may do 4096x4096 on that one.

Good to know, I feared having the filter would make it possible look better, but with the filter it really erasing the fine detail in those original texs.

If I do TR2, I'll do less denoise.

Again, exactly what I feared (but with the filter applied). Hopefully with these textures already upscaled to 2046x2046 it'll influence some others to do a full remaster like TR3's getting. They can use this a base for new textures.
