For the love of god, I love chronicles and I really hope they won't change the skybox in any form. It has to stay like it is, of course just with updated textures. I really hope they make use of the moving sky/clouds.

This being said, Chronicles is one of my favourites and is in constant rotation with 2 and 3 on the top spot. I just love how chill and easy it is, which seperates it from any other classic game, making it the perfect game to play when it's raining outside and you just want to have a cozy experience. Especially Ireland, which is one of my top locations of any tomb raider game. The whole atmosphere was a 10/10. If we ever got a remake I'd love to see its lore expanded and the section be made much much longer, it's that good! I wished we got more on what the hell was actually going on, finding out what crimes the hanged man commited and how Verdilet stranded and eventually got imprisoned there (I think he was russian?).

Alright, here's a tough one: which skybox do you prefer - the Ireland one, or the one in The Cold War?

The blue-green aurora borealis in this TR2Gold level was forever etched into my memory when I played the official demo version of it. It really enhances the experience of being somewhere really cold and dark, it's almost otherwordly.

Good question, but I have to admit that I am biased, since I played Chronicles (or Ireland in that case) much more than Cold War, let alone the TR2 Gold, so I have to go with Ireland just because of nostalgia or like you put it, it has etched itself into my memory when playing it as a child. However I am still a big fan of the cold war skybox and was disappointed to see how much they changed it for the remaster.

I think both skyboxes really set the mood for their respective setting. Ireland was gloomy and eerie while Cold Wars felt cold but beautiful. They really nailed them imo. I love the fast moving dark storm clouds with the distant bright pinkish red sunset at the horizon.

I can really see them having fun with chronicles. And I definitely see 3d objects of a coin tash instead of the flat coin texture for the sea hags treasure among many other things.
