Bats & Rats

I really hate the bats and rats in this game.

I'm going through it again and trying, as I usually do now with all TRs, to do it no scratch. It is easy enough with no medipacks if you're an experienced TR player. But no scratch is rendered almost impossible by these mostly unavoidable creatures, mostly the bats.

The point is that the damage they cause is utterly random. You can repeat the same section exactly the same way each time and may get 0% damage (rare) or 15% damage. The game decides the percentage whatever you do; there's no player skill or clever solution to be found.

Other than trying the multiple saves and restarts suggested for the locusts in TR4 you might as well not bother trying no scratch at those points in the game.

The 'imps' throwing stones at LC in The Old Mill rope swing and the bats there too all feel are much the same. I got through with only a shaving off LC's HP but it took me at least two dozen attempts and when those stones can hit LC through apparently solid rock it does get annoying.
