There were fans involved but these are still a commercial product, not something the community threw together for free. You are entitled to criticism of something you've spent money on. Quote:
The tweaks to the engine might make it possible to create different color water effects so that each body of water has a distinct color. Clear might be the universally functional solution, but it would be great to have murky water in stagnant bodies as well as reddish water in those TR1 atlantean pyramid pools that come in contact with the biological growths. They didn't even have to release this trilogy this year since it's only been 28 years since TR1. Imagine what two more years of quality control would've produced. Another bit that bummed me out about Golden Mask was the poor handling of this little glimpse of the Kingdom we can see at the end of Furnace of the Gods.
I was hampered by the (creative!) way this texture was applied to the OG game, meaning I had to darken the trees and overexpose the sky pure white. In an ideal world this would have been a proper skybox with beams of light shining through the crack, but oh well. I've just noticed they didn't even try to make the rock texture seamless, so I'll work on that next. Then it's onto the red and blue Xian rocks... |

Even if updates stopped, at some point people are gonna get further with the mods and at the very least the PC version will be fully fixed.

Mods are fleeting, and difficult to install for many inexperienced users, so it would be better that the improvements were present in the official product. |

I wouldn't go as far as saying it's low quality, you said they aren't broken or bad yourself in the translation thread, only that they could be improved (and I agree, in TR1 which never had an official Italian localization many things could be adapted differently).

Why not make a more literal translations mod now? The translations were added in Patch 4 and credited. They are just text files! Not like one just be wary of Kanji unused in the font table etc...italian uses the Latin alphabet with accents - they're all very much there
