- LVL_LEVEL4=Capriccio di San Francesco ("St. Francis" was left untranslated, but it should be translated, both as the level's title and in the FMV, since the monastery above the ruins is clearly dedicated to Francis of Assisi)

French version (Steam)
I think there was a problem putting translations in place for the trophies in TR2. The texts are the wrong ones. Like putting winston inside the fridge you unlock the trophy with Winston's picture but the text is the one about swandive from the greatwall tower. It's a bit confusing to keep track of what you did and what you have left to do.

Not really translation but might related: the subtitles in the first TR3 cutscene freeze on Tony's second line (when he says they all need to stop and he will be fine) close to the end of the cutscene it unfreeze and rush every line until the end.

Apart from that I did not noticed weird translation or major translation error but it does feel weird that they did not use the original so the levels we knew for almost 30 years has now sightly different names lol
for exemple in TR1 the first level was called "cavernes" in 1996, now it's called "grottes" it means basically the same thing but it's surprising at first.
I suspect the trophies to have some poorly choosen words but haven't had the time to compare the lists yet

No problem with Czech translation. I noticed only missing letters here and there, but the translation itself is flawless.

TR1:

- "Scion" has been translated as "medaglione", which, although too generic, makes sense. "Scion" literally translates as "discendente" (descendant, offspring) or "germoglio" (bud, sprout). Using "Germoglio" (as a proper name, thus uppercase like "Scion") for the artefact would be original yet maybe strange, considering that Lara collects its first piece and thus has it in her inventory with its name even before it is mentioned at the end of the Peru section when she talks with Larson, and she did not know its name before then. However, the same consideration applied to the untranslated "Scion" in the original game. Therefore, "medaglione" is too generic yet fine, but it would probably be better to either translate it to "Germoglio" or leave it untranslated as "Scion". The latter would probably be the best choice (it would necessitate to change the name of LVL_LEVEL8C to "Santuario dello Scion" or "Santuario del Germoglio" and all its mentions in dialogues).

Added:

TR2:

- LVL_UNWATER=In immersione (it was translated as "In profondità", which would be perfect, but it is the same title of level 6 in TR5; unless the title of the TR5 level will be changed in a future remaster, another possible transaltion for the TR2 level could be "40 braccia in immersione", "40 braccia sott'acqua", or simply "40 braccia")

Cool German Level Titles

I don’t know why they retranslated the original
level titles in German, but the new ones
don’t fit as well as the old ones sometimes.
e.g. the first level „Caves“ was „Die Kavernen“
and now is „Die Höhlen“ which really sounds
a bit dull.

Or „The City of Vilcabamba“ was „Die Stadt Vilcabamba“
and now is just „Vilcabamba“, which oc is fine,
but still feels like an unnecessary change.

Would be nice to just stick with the
original ones imo.

Greetings

Italian:

In the COMMON folder:

ACCEPT=Elfogad (this is Hungarian!) should be ACCEPT=Accetto

GOLD1A=Shadow of the Cat (menu main item left untranslated) should be GOLD1A=L'ombra del gatto

TR3_CATSUIT=Tuta should be TR3_CATSUIT=Calzamaglia (calzamaglia is always tight, tuta usually is not)

Lightbulb GitHub repository for suggestions

Hello,

I've collected the explicit suggestions in this thread and put them together in this GitHub repository.
Each suggestion was added as a separate commit for easier tracking: Commits.

This allows:
  • everyone to use it as a "General Translation Fixes" mod by downloading the repository as a zip file and extracting it in the game's install dir
  • github users to fork it & add their own modifications
  • TR devs to look at the suggestions in a precise manner using the commits diffs
  • easily creating multiple versions using git branches, for instance having both an "OG Translation" vs a "Modern Translation" as different mods.

I also added my own suggestions (FR):
Please let me know if this is useful in any way or if it breaks any rules I may have overlooked.

Regards

Excellent initiative; it will be extremely useful! Thank you!

Regarding the Italian corrections, however, the word "Scion" requires a different article because it begins with two consonants ("sc"); not del but dello. Therefore:

- [10000] Te e quel dannato pezzo dello Scion.

- [64600] e che con lui vi sia anche un pezzo dello Scion atlantideo:

(here, please also correct the "a" of atlantideo to lowercase; this type of adjectives are not uppercase in Italian)

- LVL_LEVEL8C=Santuario dello Scion

In all languages and in all three games, change Uzi to Ingram. The automatic guns used in TR1, 2 and 3 are actually not Uzi but Ingram guns. The correct model for Uzi is introduced only in TR4 and 5.

This is optional, but possibly change the name Automatic Pistols in TR2 to Intratec. This is the more precise type to which those guns belong.
