AOD is a great opportunity for Embracer/Aspyr/CD
Remastering a game that was 'hated' in its time and that almost ended the franchise is a great opportunity for Aspyr (belongs to Embracer) to consolidate itself as one of the best companies in remastering, which will also affect CD as it owns the TR.
We're talking about a redemption, an introduction to modernity, both for old and new players who have never heard of AOD, but who already comment a lot on this darker perspective of Tomb Raider (it's no wonder that AOD gained prominence after the announcement) If the remaster is a success, it could be the first step towards 'spin-off' games based on the classics and will open Embracer's eyes in 'forcing' these new developments, especially if they are focused on consoles like the Nintendo Switch, which has the largest player base among existing consoles. I can't wait for her improved ingame model. Very curious about her hair physics.

Very much agree! And it could be something that's potentially awesome for the greater gaming community even.
What I mean is, if AOD turns out to be a massive success for turning a broken game around, it might convince other devs/publishers to do the same for games that have suffered a similar fate. Imagine if the original Vampire The Masquerade game got the same treatment officially - that sort of thing. |

AOD, even fixed with zero bugs and improved controls/graphics, is still not a very good game.

I would like to see the following realised: - Tomb Rader: The Desert Wind (by Schofield; sequel to AoD) - Tomb Raider: The Fountain of Youth (by Campbell) The author of the TRLE Lost and Found should be hired to work on these games. I am not that pessimistic. We will see how the game will be with more numerous and more resistant enemies, and with realistic weapons (beginning with their nomenclature, and I warn you that I will hammer until all the names of the weapons are the real ones ). Part of the canon or not, I think it would be wonderful to have games in the classic, platform style.

Everyone loves a good comeback story, and I sincerely hope AOD gets some much needed justice!

I think Core was a bit inspired by the immersive sim genre when they were making AOD, and they bit of way more than they could chew. The RPG elements, multi choice conversations, multiple paths through early levels, a city hub... someone in the team must have really played a lot of Deus Ex. |
