Date of VCI mission seems to be wrong
I noticed the other day that the official companion for Tomb Raider The Angel of Darkness as well as The Official Tomb Raider Files book by Core Design place the date of the VCI mission in TR5 to 1999 (May 26). However, the date that is used in the remaster on the promo screenshot is different (May 9, 1998). This could be wrong and, if so, should probaby be corrected.
Curious to hear if you know of any other official source about this part of Lara's original timeline. |

In the original universe and timeline it likely happened on May 1998, before the events of TR3 or even late 1997.
However in the new "unified" whatever timeline it's set in the 2020's. So say May 8, 2022 for example. In this new timeline the twin towers event didn't happen and if it did we still don't know as we havent seen that background yet. Last edited by JsotoTRSaga; 03-11-24 at 20:35. |

The Tomb Raider: Chronicles Press Kit says 1999.
But in the remaster they have indeed set it to 1998. They have likely changed it in order to explain the presence of the Iris in the Wunderkammer of Lara's Home in TR3. Given that it is only a one-year difference, and does not mess up the plot, I am fine with that. Last edited by Mr Od; 03-11-24 at 20:35. |

exactly it has to be in 1998 because she already had it in TR3.
Also I think in one of TR5's trailers it said it was in 1998, although that trailer can't be really taken for granted since it said ireland is set in late 70's, and it can't be true since Lara got her backpack only in 1984. |

I appreciate that at least the remaster gives an official date to these already confusing events. Manuals or guides don't matter because clearly no one reads that anymore. But the game itself providing an official date visible on passports and screens is, in a manner of speaking, a relief.
PS: What does the unified timeline have to do with the remasters? With this information it was clear that the unification is not related to these games, but rather to taking the events of the classic games and reinterpreting them within the Reboot. |

So when did the events of TR2013, Rise, and Shadow happen? The 80s?
This "unification" becomes a bigger cluster**** the more you try to match everything up. |

I thought that since the Tomb Raider Classic games are English the date would be September 5, 1998 since the date format in the UK and EU in general is day-month-year as opposed to the US month-day-year format.
