Patch 5 - What issues still needs addressing before the team moves on for good?
With TR4-6 on the horizon its safe to say we're probably won't be seeing too many more updates for this game. Assuming the team has one final patch left in store for us, what are the major issues you feel still need addressing before the game is done and dusted for good?
Rather than having our posts get lost in numerous other threads, I thought maybe we can compile all our suggestions here in one spot so its easier for the team members to keep track of everything for one last final update. Some of the main issues that stand out to me: Level Select A missing feature from the PS1 releases that would truly help make the remasters the definitive version of the games. Lara's Home (TR1) This is the only manor level that doesn't have an updated skybox featuring landscapes in the background. This should be updated even if it means reusing the same skyboxes from TR2 or TR3. The exterior of the Pool House is also missing from outside the study and should be added. Egyptian Levels (Unfinished Business) The new skybox from Patch 4 has two random black rings visible in the center of the sky that should be removed. Home Sweet Home (TR2) The windows in Lara's bedroom (opposite the door to the main hall) are incorrectly textured. They should be transparent on both sides, but the exterior of the mansion is using the solid glass texture instead. This error is only present when using the remastered graphics. Lara's Home (TR3) Two of the window textures in the kitchen are misaligned. Because the textures are double sided its very noticeable that the two sides do not match up. Sleeping with the Fishes (Lost Artefact) The skybox at the end of the level should have an ocean added to it like the Offshore Rig levels or at least have the level geometry expanded so that the water doesn't just awkwardly cut off. 3D Ladders Some levels have them. Others don't. It would be nice to have some consistency across all levels. Performing a roll during a swan dive in TR1 TR2 introduced the ability of using the roll button during a swan dive. For some reason this hasn't been back ported into TR1 like the underwater roll and reverse flip were. As this move doesn't break the gameplay it should be added into TR1. - Implement my translations: https://www.tombraiderforums.com/sho...24&postcount=6
- Lara's Home in TR2 and TR3 should receive the same upgrades as in TR1 (3D windows, other objects, etc.). - Implement the specific models for the shotgun and grenade launcher in TR3. - Blue menu windows in TR3. - Other things from Tremolo's lists (including various suggested improvements to environments and architectures): https://www.tombraiderforums.com/sho...d.php?t=228962 |

Still need to unify the controls so that TR1 Lara can crouch and sprint. Even if just as a cheat code. It’s been months now and I’m beginning to wonder what’s going on over there.

It was made clear from the beginning that those moves have not been backported to TR1 and 2 because they would break the gameplay and some timed puzzles.

That reminds me we still can't use the roll button while performing a swan dive in TR1. Its strange that this move was left out when both the underwater role and reverse flip were incorporated.

Either that, or Lara lost the ability to run from her teenage years, which is hard to justify or overlook. |

The guy in the Lud's Gate cutscene still wobbles his head like a madman.
The gate in Lara's Home in TR1 is still covered with wooden textures. Fire still looks like powder Still plenty of 3D treatment required Adding a few extra layers to the geometry to make ladders, statues, etc stick out and look less like wall paper. This can also be used to create the illusion of smoothing out edges of natural (not men made) stones, blocks, snow, and sand. 2D foliage textures on the Lost Valley still look hideous. Adding a hell lot more bushes, especially up on the temple where there's a secret would benefit greatly. The camera makes it hard to make a running jump when Lara is backed up against a wall. Allowing Lara to pull herself up using the jump button on modern controls would benefit greatly. Allowing Lara to look like Legend in combat using modern controls by introducing running backwards instead of Lara giving her back to the enemy. That's all I can think about because at for the rest, the games are brilliant. |

You guys can’t be serious? A patch 5 thread? What’s next? A patch 6, 7, 8 … 100 thread?
Can’t you guys be happy with what we got and let them move onto TR4-6 remastered? It’s just nitpicking at this point. |

I agree with most things already posted in this thread. Regarding bigger things I really want them to:
- Port over better looking fire and water from 4-5 remastered (if those games will indeed have both of these looking better), and also fixing the odd waterfall transparency issues in the process - Level select is still very much needed - TR1 and 2 need to have footprints and surface related footsteps sounds as well. I know this is more complicated to add because they need to tell the game which texture sounds like what and which texture needs to show footprints and which don't, but TR3 can handle it and since they did backport a lot of other effects I don't see why they couldn't add this. Sound effects for the different surfaces could just be taken from TR3 and injected externally like they did with the new 'no' sound effects. Other than this there are still many minor glitches and oddities left like mentioned in posts above, but these 3 are definitely the biggest things remaining left. |
