Default The bad writing syndrome that plagues the reboot games has to be gone in the sequel

I am tired of the bad writing, hackneyed tropes, boring cliches, nonsensical melodrama and the horrible storylines that is present in the reboot games. Gone is the subtlety, subtext and nuance, and that is all replaced by subpar pacing, underwhelming character developments, especially in Lara's character and the awful monologues and dialogues that are reminiscent of those low quality soap operas in the early 2000s. Enough with the family drama and the terrible twists that would feel at home in Quantic Dream games. The next game needs new, fresh and innovative creative writing ideas and standards that can bring this franchise to new heights.

The next game should just stop focusing on story all together. Quit trying to be all cinematic and ****, be a game first and foremost. I say enough trying to invest so much on trying to be a movie. Let the tombs and gameplay mechanic's be the story. That's how they would stick out.

The story of the reboot games always wanted to reach the stars, but perhaps it’s time for them to admit they lack something that other story-driven IPs don’t. A simple story would suffice, as long as it’s coherent and doesn’t try to be more than it is. Something like Legend, fun and entertaining. For example, I would love to learn about Lara’s fetish for wearing tribal outfits.

This is what I think would be best. Simple, lower stakes storylines with a focus on gameplay.

Tomb Raider isn't the only series to suffer from this problem. It's incredibly ironic but many series have really struggled to get across a good story and character development since trying to become more cinematic.

I personally think that stories earlier in the series were better because they didn't over complicate themselves. The story was about the artifact and Lara's chase to get it. To me it served a purpose. Could it have been better expanded? Yes it could have and I feel this is how it needs to be done from now on. The main story being about the thing Lara is trying to get, the rivalries and character development come in along the way. They need to stop trying to make everything about Lara and her family, they need to stop trying to write entire casts of meaningful and fleshed out side characters which fall flat on their face. If shadow hadn't gone into the whole Paititi drama throwing Abby away in the process but rather having her as a constant teritiary character developing along side Jonah showing Lara becoming more distant from them and developing her loaner personality the entire game would have come off much better. This is why games like Uncharted are better to me. They have a narrower scope but they do it better. They build a broad cast of characters you understand and can follow meaningfully across multiple entries not just throwing a peppering of new characters in every installment and expecting good development and us to care.

I think they should fart and take a deep breath : let your writers write what they want. I mean, today everything has to be cliché and convenient. Just stop with that focus on "omg everyone should enjoy our game/story". No, impossible. You can't please everyone so stop trying to reach this impossible goal. Just write what you like, have fun.

Tomb Raider's main attraction has always been the gameplay and the sassy one-liners from cool/iconic characters. The plot itself doesn't need to be mind-blowing.

Well nothing is really new anyway even some mythological myths are inspired by others.
