Not that I'm a musical buff or anything but I don't think that Venice tune was nicked from anywhere. But I might be wrong.

Yes, I think that too.

I've only heard it in TR2. But yes, it does sound familiar. Probably because we've all heard it so many times.

I have heard it played elsewhere, but I do not know if it was written for Tomb Raider II or not.

Good question.

Its completely original for Tomb Raider II.
Nathan McCree composed it - he is a genius in my book!

He might've had some help or collaborated before on this before he went solo for the Tomb Raider III soundtrack (correct me if i'm wrong!)

People think it is an adaptation of a musical song because it is very similar to famous classical music. It has a similar structure to most classical music too. Especially the ending which always reminded me of being in an Edwardian high society tea party setting.

It's by Nathan McCree. See post #4 here:

I guessed Vivaldi.

it's definitely an original composition by mccree. it's one of the selected TR2 tracks he has up on his website.

It does remind me of Vivaldi a lot, I think that's intentional to make it fit with the Venice setting.

One thing I always remembered about the Italy levels was the music. The Venice piece manages to fit perfectly with the surroundings whilst being quite out of place (there's something amusing about dignified classical music being played as men with clubs get shot ). Although, I'm not sure the music came on at that moment.

When I was little it scared me.
