I’ve been thinking about Tomb Raider: Chronicles lately….

That was a sad game! Besides the whole thing where only three people showed up at her funeral, I was considering how lonely Lara must feel in general. More specifically, the scene with Charles was very sad to me because when he said: “Someone has to (be worried about you)” implying that Lara doesn’t really have someone close enough to worry about her like that. (<– this is arguable but I don’t wanna argue rn, this is just my interpretation. I know that Lara has friends but I don’t think she is that close to them in the old games.)

I know that the writers didn’t want this scene to play out like this; they probably were going for a scene where Lara says something girlboss-y or witty but –idk– it just felt like there was something more there that she was covering with humor imo.

I decided to not show her expression in the last panel because this is seen from Kane’s perspective and Lara would want to hide her expression when she says that. She is also trying to create a comfortable distance between her and everyone else. Also I wanted the last panel to be bigger to show how strong she is and how she could do well on her own but at the same time, I left this giant panel very empty to show the loneliness she might feel from time to time. I don’t think that she hates being alone but I think she does feel like she is missing out on something from time to time by self-isolating and that sometimes she is craving for one-on-one connections. It’s always about the next mission, the next task and never about focusing on herself or building meaningful connections with people.

never even thought of this!

So that leaves 5 as possibly my favorite, since it's the more polished of the classics and offers shorter, more varied levels. If you consider Chronicles as an expansion of Last Revelation (which it is, just like the Last Artifact is an expansion of TR3), then it becomes easier to give it a better review.

As you all know, if you let the game play in demo mode, there's one scene with Von Croy and its cronies, reinforcing the "expansion" nature of the game.

From Chronicles, I love the 3D floppy disks that function as save icons, the colorful GUI and varied, shorter levels that offer some of the most balanced challenge/enjoyment ratio of the series. Oh, and the sound is truly amazing
I second this. I really should get around to writing a proper review for both The Last Revelation and Chronicles...

- Ah! The infamous trophy room, and you will be doing the acrobatics to enter, Winston? Yes?
- Miss Croft did enjoy her little games...

The infamous trophy room.... which is now inexplicably where the kitchen always was

I like to infer classic Lara genuinely enjoyed home renovations as a hobby outside of tomb raiding. She seemed to make substantial changes to her mansion between games, and there's probably some overlap of interest between appreciating ancient architecture and home improvements.

I'm glad that even Zip came into this game because black lives matter as well

Zip was such a cool character, it's a shame he didn't come into more things. I'd have appreciated it a lot.

I think Lara was at her best in this game but I didn’t like the gameplay much.
