Rev 1 takes place before RE5 in the timeline, so yeah canonically Jill has been missing since the events of 5.

We've had enough Leon. This would be the perfect time to bring back someone like Carlos or Sheva. |

Stop trying to make Sheva happen. She's NOT going to happen.
Oh, sorry I was thinking from a release date point of view. Last edited by jajay119; 16-06-21 at 18:53. |

The timelines an absolute mess so it's easy to forget what happened when in canon It is nuts that Jill has just been MIA for so long when you think about where we're at in the series now.

I wonder if Capcom ever studied the possibility of having no playable men in one of their games. Maybe they did, and dismissed it after seeing the conclusions. Something about representing male gamers, perhaps?

Actually yes, in the big leaks there was an internal presentation about equality and representation in games. They actually highlighted Lara and the TR reboot as a strong example of a female lead and Ellie from TLOU as a strong gay character.

And how did that translate into their games? With Ethan being the protagonist of two consecutive entries, with Leon and Chris saving damsel in distress Rebecca? Perhaps they hate Lara and Ellie (?)

It hasn't really I mean you could argue women feature just as much as men but in RE they've mostly been antagonists or supporting characters of late, not the player character. Rev 2 did have Claire and Moira with Alex as a superb villain, RE3make obviously has Jill but they gave a little bit more screen time to Carlos whilst cutting down on Jill's time so that's not great. The presentation was all over the place, it wasn't just about women in games but representation and equality across all spectrums. There was a part where they talked about black representation, religious beliefs, cultural differences, LGBTQ, making sure women aren't overly sexualised compared to male characters (but if both are sexualised it's ok), it really just seemed like a presentation made so they could say they gave staff a lecture on it honestly. If you search "Capcom leaks representation" on Google images you can find it.
