Try to put the Image= commands before the Customize= commands.

Also, you're confusing TRNG and NGLE and I admit that bothers me: NGLE is ngle.exe, it's only the editor (hence Next Generation Level Editor). When you refer to the engine you actually refer to TRNG, not NGLE.

Thanks anyway guys - I'll try again tomorrow.
I placed the Image= line before the Customize= but still nothing.
Double checked my pix folder and they're numbered 1 and 2.bmp respectively.

Guess I need to get more scripting practice.. but I still feel there could be more tutorials on TRF (along with the rest of the tutorials for TRLE and TRNG)
Heck.. once I figure it out, I could always write tutorials for you if you wanted

I know these things are probably really easy and simple for those builders who've grown used to them - but for a complete newbie.. its a complete mindfield of meaningless gibberish. Its hard work but I'm trying my best <3

EDIT: Still can't get it to work..
Can someone point to what I'm doing wrong so I can at least fix my own mistakes (if indeed I am making any)

Image= 1, 1, IF_PRELOAD, IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE
Customize= CUST_BACKGROUND, BKGDT_INVENTORY, IGNORE, IGNORE, 1 ; TR2 Inventory Backdrop

Image= 2, 2, IF_PRELOAD, IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE
Customize= CUST_BACKGROUND, BKGDT_LOADING_LEVEL, IGNORE, IGNORE, 2 ; TR2 classic loading level screen

I have IMAGE1.bmp and IMAGE2.bmp in a PIX folder - which is in my TRLE folder - in 'My Documents'..
Still nothing.. I get a clear background.. and the 'default' TR4 Times exclusive loading screen when starting the level..
I even tried putting the images into the TRLE folder as they are (NGCenter says this can also work) and nothing

I just don't understand how something SO basic can not be working... bleh

Can someone please help me with this setup?

;=======
;LASER SETUP

;LASER 1 TRIGGER ALARM

GlobalTrigger= 12, FGT_SINGLE_SHOT_RESUMED, GT_DISTANCE_FROM_ITEM, 4349952, IGNORE, 43, IGNORE
GlobalTrigger= 13, FGT_SINGLE_SHOT_RESUMED, GT_DISTANCE_FROM_ITEM, 4349952, IGNORE, 44, IGNORE
GlobalTrigger= 14, FGT_SINGLE_SHOT_RESUMED, GT_DISTANCE_FROM_ITEM, 4349952, IGNORE, 45, IGNORE
GlobalTrigger= 15, FGT_SINGLE_SHOT_RESUMED, GT_DISTANCE_FROM_ITEM, 4349952, IGNORE, 46, IGNORE
GlobalTrigger= 16, FGT_SINGLE_SHOT_RESUMED, GT_DISTANCE_FROM_ITEM, 4349952, IGNORE, 47, IGNORE
GlobalTrigger= 17, FGT_SINGLE_SHOT_RESUMED, GT_DISTANCE_FROM_ITEM, 4349952, IGNORE, 48, IGNORE

;ALARM
TriggerGroup= 43, $5000,256,$002B
;MAPPER
TriggerGroup= 44, $5000,257,$002B
;TRAPDOOR
TriggerGroup= 45, $5000,16,$002B
;GAS AND DAMAGE
TriggerGroup= 46, $2000,125,$0002
;CAMERA
TriggerGroup= 47, $5000,258,$0329
;CAMERA TARGET
TriggerGroup= 48, $5000,258,$0329

None of this works for some reason.

I just tried your setup, and it surely works. In NGLE.
Would you also try it in NGLE? If it also works for you there, then it probably is a TE bug.

If you used the formula properly for 4349952, then it should work.
My question is the same just as above: does it work for you in NGLE?

Sorry, I don't use NGLE and I don't know how to use it.

How did you arrive at 4349952? I'm also using GT_DISTANCE_FROM_ITEM and it's working for me in TE.

Btw, you should be able to combine those into one GlobalTrigger and TriggerGroup.

This is what I have now

GlobalTrigger= 12, FGT_SINGLE_SHOT_RESUMED, GT_DISTANCE_FROM_ITEM, 1048835, IGNORE, 43, IGNORE
TriggerGroup= 43, $5000,260,$002B, > ;ROLLING BALL ACTIVATE

this is for a rollingball setup

alternatively for a fully scripted setup:

GlobalTrigger= 12, FGT_SINGLE_SHOT_RESUMED, GT_DISTANCE_FROM_ITEM, 1048835, IGNORE, 43, IGNORE
;ALARM+MAPPER+TRAPDOOR+GAS AND DAMAGE+CAMERA+CAMERA TARGET
TriggerGroup= 43, $5000,256,$2B, $5000,257,$2B, $5000,16,$2B, $2000,125,$2, $5000,258,$329, $5000,258,$329

Neither setups currently work.

I arrived at that number by:

item id = 259

Distance for item to be triggered is calculated at half a click , 128 which is roughly the size of the item(edited)

x 8192

So 259 + (128 x 8192) = 1,048,835
and yes, someone pointed out how I can combine those. Still working this all out.

For such a small distance you might want to try removing collision from the item, if not already. You also need to take the vertical distance into account if the item is above or below Lara (can be disabled by adding GTD_IGNORE_HEIGHT to the calculation).

Also a tip to make sure the GlobalTrigger is actually executing, use a Screen. Flash flipeffect ($2000,355,$2800).

Ahh how strange. I knew I wasn't going crazy LOL
Yeh I'm using Tomb Editor.
But surely thats just the editor.. I still use NGCenter and those older tools (other scripts there work fine with T.E)
Hmm...

Thing is. IF it was a big with Tomb Editor.. how can other builders successfully use the script using Tomb Editor also (Create A Classic comp) I know thats what they used due to diagonal geometry etc
Very strange.

Hopefully someone can help and not just point me to the Reference section of NGCenter.. coz that doesn't really help.. no offence

It's one of the tabs in NG-Center. It's right there in plain sight.

And there's a dropdown menu inside Reference in which you can pick old script commands, new commands, OCB list, mnemonic constants, etc. Lots of info in there.
