I think 50 is enough.

Yeah, the ammount of documents we had in TR2013 was enough I think.
But one thing that I think it would help would be if we didn't had to stop gameplay to hear the voiceover of the document, but only if we wanted to actually read it. Same thing with relics or other stuff. But obviously only if you want to hear the recording/discription in the first place. Aka like what SotTR treats its collectibles, but with one extra step in the middle. |

I thought the way it was done in TR2013 was the best. Rise overdid it big time. And at least Shadow doesn't make you read them automatically.

11-50 is a large bracket. About 25 in the game would be good, if they came with some artistic visuals, too, such as Last Revelation. They'd also need high calibre and engaging writing, so knowing CD's consistently abysmal writing skills, that should be outsourced and the result not be tampered with. The more documents they have the more likely they are to continue being absolutely nonsense gibberish drivel again.

I voted for 50-100 but I think the quality is a lot more important than the quantity. Finding 200 meaningless documents just to pad out the lackluster "exploration" is not fun.
I really liked the Hoshi(sp?) documents in TR2013 and I would like to see more of that in the future. |

I definitely choose the system from TR2013 with the gps gadgets and the amount of documents - relics

One thing Tomb Raider’13 did right was the collectibles, so perhaps if they went back and looked at how they handled them in that game. Rise/Shadow felt more of a chore to collect them than actual want. It got to the point we’re I couldn’t even be bothered reading them, I’d pick them up and just close the window just as quickly.
I feel like the devs think, more documents/relics = more exploration when in fact it doesn’t. Less is more. |
