The movie was flawed enough on its own without drawing comparisons to the book. YMS covered it fairly well in his 2 parter as did the Honest Trailer:

There was one huge plot hole not covered in any of the aforementioned vids, though:

Brad Pitt gets zombie blood in his mouth and doesn't get turned. HTF did THAT make it past the editing room?

The original Night of the Living Dead created the zombie genre as we know it today. The remake of Dawn of the Dead modernized the concept in 2004 with fast zombies. First scary zombie movie in decades. Shaun of the Dead is no doubt the best zombie comedy and arguably the best zombie movie in general. World War Z is the best zombie book and I highly recommend it!

For those who have Netflix (or have other streaming sites) Z Nations is really funny and goofy. Recently watched Black Summer as well. It’s another series on Netflix, but far darker (and of better overall quality) than Z Nation.

Another recommendation is the Korean movie Train to Busan, which is more drama/Horror.

Btw, any of you watched Kingdom? Heard it was quite good as well.

So I just watched the first episode of Kingdom (Netflix). It plays in Korea at the end of the 1500's and the sets are amazing! Buildings, costumes, nature, etc. Acting is great as well.

From wiki:

Set in Korea’s Joseon period, a few years after the Japanese invasions of Korea (1592-1598). It tells the story of Crown Prince Yi Chang (Ju Ji-hoon), who becomes embroiled in a coup/political conspiracy and is forced to embark upon a mission to investigate the spread of a mysterious undead plague that has beset the current emperor and the country's southern provinces.

Never read the book, but WWZ movie was ****ing crap. So many plot holes and stupid ass logic (both in dumb things happening and dumb things NOT happening that should have). Just moronic all around. I yelled at the TV many times. The scene where the zombies pile up on top of each other to get over a 100+ foot wall (or however tall is was) was straight out of Looney Tunes

The book is amazing! If follows different characters each chapter and how they survived the apocalypse, slowly sketching a bigger picture of what happened from different perspectives.

Great thing about it, the whole apocalypse shows the full political/economical/social changes are a result of the outbreak.

Go read it!

Exactly. Brad Pitt throwing a grenade on a plane that somehow only blows a hole in the wall, then surviving a plane crash that conveniently lands within walking distance of a medical research facility AND a metal spike through his lung?

Pitt surviving 2 car collisions that leave the driver's door completely smashed, then getting up NOT LIMPING and stealing an RV that somebody conveniently left with keys in the ignition and a loaded shotgun inside during a zombie apocalypse that somehow NOBODY bothered to take the whole time with f'ing zombies gunning for them?

Pitt miraculously putting together a camouflaging virus that happens to be curable without getting instructions from the scientists who happened to be on the security cams?

Zombies somehow stop chasing Pitt after chasing him ALL THROUGHOUT THAT SCENE long enough for him to catch a glimpse of the zombies running past the Israeli soldier chick who can somehow detect infected persons while running at them full speed, yet need loud noises to know where people are (they can "sense" infections, yet they can't "sense" heartbeats?)?

Oh and we're really supposed to believe a guy fought through huge crowds, got on a plane and locked himself in the bathroom all within the 12 seconds time they said it takes for someone to turn? And without making any noise the whole time because the flight attendant didn't know he was in there despite all the loud plane noises the zombies were supposed to be triggered by?

There's so much stupid and plot holes in this movie, it's not even funny. I'm not even beginning to scratch the surface. 28 Days Later, this is not.

Yes, 28 Day Later is the best Zombie movie.

Dawn Of The Dead (2004)
Train To Busan (2016)
Seoul Station (2016)
REC movies

are all great too.
