Good God that would be ghastly! I'm still in awe someone saw fit to cast her as Snow White in that film where Charlize Theron played the evil Queen. Was the casting director one of the few people in the world who didn't know about the whole 'fairest in the land' part of the story?

I'd also like to reiterate what you said regarding a 'name' playing Lara being unnecessary, which I totally agree with. The "Tomb Raider" name and brand are still very relevant, and the Lara Croft character is still very much within the public's conscious. They don't need a well known actress to sell it.

Well supposedly Warner Bros wanted to reboot Tomb Raider in 2009 and asked Kristen Stewart after Megan Fox turned it down. Glad that didn't happen!! She's already ruined enough films. That would be like apocalypse bad! And I could suspend my disbelief about the fairest in the land thing if she could actually act; you could replace her with a cardboard cut-out and as long as it had the same stupid expression that she always has no one would know the difference. :/

Thanks, I really believe that as well; Tomb Raider is still relevant, loved, and the reboot put Lara back in the spotlight and introduced her to a new audience. The reboot was fantastic and very successful, going on nothing more than the franchise name and advertising, so if the film follows it well enough and they advertise well, it should be way more successful, as films reach a much larger audience than games. This film is going to put Lara back at the top and make a young actress a very big star if they do things right and make a film as great as the game. But the actress is key, she must embody Lara! They can choose from anyone in the world so no compromises! :P

All actresses that were named - are the same actresses people want for 50 shades of grey (besides Camilla Luddington)

And after i saw her on the last GA-episode (didn't see on whole episode in almost 2 years) I must say: I like her acting... and

"You must see the other one"

She was going Lara Croft in Greys Anatomy and I really like her acting skills. I only watched this episode bc of her. So I'm all in for #LuddingtonForCroft

(But I sure will watch it if she is not Lara Croft)

If I may toss another name into the hat: Jessica Lowndes. I'm surprised this one didn't occur to me earlier.

Now, despite the fact she was on the rather ghastly "90210" she really is a decent actress (one of the very, very few on that show!). I just watched a horror flick she starred in, "Altitude", in which her character pilots a small plane caught in a supernatural storm and a lot of the intense emotional stuff reminded me of moments from "TR2013" (that's how this choice 'clicked' for me).

[IMG]http://i42.************/5kn62o.jpg[/IMG] Lara-esque hair!

Roughed up, ala Lara in the reboot.

Drawbacks would be she's Canadian and to my knowledge has never done an accent before, and she's never done an action role but she's very beautiful, she's got the 'Lara look' (IMO, anyway), the aforementioned acting chops and she's age appropriate.

Yes, and a very good one too! But I didn't think it'd be relevant to mention in regards to her being a good Lara Croft candidate, haha. Unless in the next game Lara decides to pack in tomb raiding to embark on a music career.

JAMES FRANCO: So a funny thing happened on this movie I'm doing down here in New Orleans that made me think of you. The movie is a comedy, but it's kind of an outrageous one, and this actress—I won't say who, but she had a smaller role in the film—walked off the movie in the middle of a scene.

MILA KUNIS: This is Seth [Rogen]'s movie that you're talking about?

FRANCO: Yeah. I'll admit that the scene we were doing was pretty crazy. There's not any nudity, but it is pretty outrageous. It's not as if the scene wasn't in the script, though. In any case, I didn't see any of this go down, but I guess she basically went up to the directors, Seth and Evan [Goldberg], and said, "I don't think I can do this." She, by the way, didn't have to do anything crazy in the scene. But what was going on around her was, I guess, too extreme for her. So Seth was like, "Well, what can we do to fix it?" And she said, "There's nothing you can do to fix it. It's just everything." And he said, "Well, let's just shoot it and I promise you can come to the editing room, and, if you don't like what we've cut together, then we will not put it in the movie." And she said, "No, that's still not good. I just can't do this. I can't be here." And he said, "Do you want to leave?" And she said, "Yeah, I've got to leave."

KUNIS: What?

FRANCO: Yeah, so she left. But what I'm really leading to is that my experience working with you has, in many ways, been the opposite of that.

KUNIS: I guess you could say that I have no shame. [laughs] I mean, if you think about all the stuff that you've made me do—just you alone, James . . .

FRANCO: We can get into that if you want.

KUNIS: We don't have to get into details, but that poor girl would never be able to do a short with you. She would never be able to have fake blood thrown at her, with blood-sucking vampires and dildos being thrown everywhere.

FRANCO: At this point, we might need to explain that you and I worked together many times before. I'm sure that some people know that we did a Funny or Die video together, and then we did Date Night, and then we just acted together inOz: The Great and Powerful, which was directed by Sam Raimi. But we've also done a bunch of side projects together. There is one that we did in a trailer with my hair-and-makeup person, Nana Fischer, that I don't know if anybody will ever see. [both laugh] We did a feature called Tar—that one people will definitely see. And then there's the one you're referring to where you play a leather-clad, bow-and-arrow-wielding vampire killer, and let's just say that there is lots of blood and gore.

KUNIS: Yes. That would not be okay for that girl. I, on the other hand, am game.
I did not think that she was such a priss.. I still hope that it was not about her though .

Almost all the comments are like this:

emma watson the only reason i wanna go see this movie
And we all know that Tomb Raider needs a big name to succeed.

I don't think that makes Emma a priss by any means.
If it is her, so what? She's a respectable woman.
A scene like that could just be out of her comfort zone.
In my eyes, she's above that anyway.
