The same day, on video. She looks fabulous as always:

I think it's horrible to spread rumors or believe newspapers that do anything for clickbait.
She looks the same as the picture to me. She lost too much fat in her face and got wrinkles. Maybe it's weight loss or just cigarettes, or just maybe a bad day, but she's definitely off there. Lara is a symbol of health and beauty. I don't think emma watson embodies that anymore. she seems too weak and gangly to portray Lara.

Yeah, that would be an awful choice. I also did not like her in beauty and the beast. Come on, Emma as Belle the „Beauty“ haha! Without make up and short hair she looks like a boy to me. No thanks!

LC is sexy, attractive, feminin, has breast, looks well trained and even when she looks at you with that eyes you should know to better not piss her off. That’s Angelina! But as said she only would return if she gets enough money and the rights to change the character or script.

I think Emma is beautiful and she's currently bulking and PT'ing. But I do think Gemma Arterton would be a good embodiment of a unified Lara. Margot Robbie is also a guilt pleasure choice just because I know she could play Classic Lara and bring in bucks but I don't think it'll be her.

Daisy is another good choice, if there was a hispanic British actress out there around that age we would be doing great too. Everyone has such different interpretations based on how Lara should look. My sister always thought after seeing the Resident Evil film that Michelle Rodriguez should've played her and growing up in the 90s I always thought Victoria Beckham looked like Lara.

I don't know how I didn't think of this before (and perhaps someone else in this thread has and I missed it) but it just occured to me that Anya Taylor-Joy actually looks a lot like classic Lara in terms of facial features.

The huge almond-shaped eyes, big lips, small nose, sharp chin,... and she can obviously act and has a British accent. I'm not sure if they could still get her, though. She's pretty big at this point.

Nice

She has a huge talent. Possibly she ends up winning an Oscar. I wouldn't mind seeing her as Lara Croft

In Queen Gambit she was impressive. Now she's FURIOUS playing Charlize Theron role in Mad Max.

She is a good point because it will not take long to recruit her for a franchise. She is in high demand.

I... don't really see it. She's pretty, but not amazonian/statuesque and not especially Lara-like (her eyes are too far apart, dainty jawline, thin lips.)

You're kidding me? What the hell is Charlize doing?

Charlize would work perfectly well as Lara, actually, though she'd work even better as Natla.

She is playing the character of Furiosa (the character of Charlize Theron) in a prequel

It is not necessary for the actress to be a copy (That she has an Amazon body or huge lips...) Alicia didn't have much of that and she did a great job. It's a movie, we need an actress who knows how to act. The characterization will do the rest.

Anya Taylor-Joy playing Lara would simply be an honor. Just as it was an honor for someone like Alicia Vikander to play Lara Croft. Very talented actresses that give seriousness and prestige to the project

I trust Graham King and his judgment in choosing actresses. He wisely chose Alicia Vikander

I was responding more specifically to Zebra's remark that Anya Taylor-Joy looked like a young Lara (she doesn't especially), but honestly I don't think the eye-candy aspect is irrelevant here. Alicia didn't quite carry it for me either.

What I'd mostly care about is a movie that can evoke a sense of awe and wonder and curiosity while exploring huge tomb complexes. A lead who can act is certainly helpful in that regard, but good visual direction, environment design and a tight script are the most important elements there, and I honestly think too much in the way of frenetic action scenes detracts from that.

I don't think that they're much further apart than classic Lara's. Honestly, her face kind of reminds me of some of those images where people have tried to photoshop a realistic face with classic/AoD Lara's proportions (just, obviously, Anya looks less like an uncanny valley alien xD):

How do we feel about Emma Mackey?

I'm not familiar with her work, but she appears to be an up & coming star, having been in the popular Sex Education. She's French-British, but perhaps a little young if they're aiming for a Lara in her 30s like the next game.
