Emma Watson could make a Great Lara, Of course if she changes her Hair color and uses different Makeup, Clothes and everything needed to look like Lara.. Then she would be Perfect.

Well she darkened her hair colour for her role as Hermione, so that wouldn't be a problem. Also, clothes and makeup go without saying and are pretty much part of the process of becoming a character. Emma happens to be smart and resourceful herself, so that and being a good actress are all pluses in my book.

Why is everyone so fixated that the actress who will play Lara has to be white?

Like I said before, I'll post it here..

Alright this is my two pennies worth view on the situation. Honestly, I think it should be someone who has experience with who Lara is like they have played the games watched the films and know everything about her. They would know how to faithfully be her on the big screen to make the game translate to the film well. Also they don't even need to be white tbh, if you look at the whole picture Lara has always had an exotic look to her so why not the actress have the same? As long as they have the upper class British accent or they can put one on.

Lara may not have an upper class accent anymore, and she may not be like the women from all the games and past movies.

I honestly don't think that Shailene Woodley would be the best choice for the part .

You are deaf larafan25? Yes Lara still has an upper class accent, that is a fairly obvious part of her identity, as is being white. While I agree with Larapink that Lara can look a bit exotic, she still has to pass for a British aristocrat so not obviously of some other ethnic background.

Whoever is chosen will be an actress playing a real person rather than a cartoonish, shallow caricature, so no need for her to have played the past games, or any games, there is nothing in them for an actress to model herself on, there could be something in the new game, but still the actress would not have had to play a game! She will have a script and a director to take care of how she should act as Lara, and make-up and wardrobe to make her look the part. We are not interested in her gaming abilities, but her acting ones, and no need to even look at the other Tomb Raider movies, since it is a different Lara she will be playing. The actress would look at them anyway just to see how the character was previously depicted, then she would do something different. They are looking for a new, younger Lara, not a new younger Angelina Jolie.

Has Nina Dobrev been mentioned?

She just won the People's Choice Award for best actress in a television series. It turns out that she was not even nominated at first but her fans made such a fuss that she was added to the nominees and she won! I think she would make a great Lara and has the fan base to go with her.

Well said . A little research certainly wouldn't hurt, and taking a look at TR9 would be the best place to start as the film is an adaptation of that game. Even then, actually playing the game wouldn't be necessary to getting the character right. The film won't be the exact same as the game either and, ultimately, it will be the director who advises how an actor plays the part. The director will have his own vision over how scenes play out etc.

Yes Nina has been mentioned in an older thread, but again, although Nina has a strong fan following because of Vampire Diaries, she is mainly a TV actress, but at least she is gathering some fame and renown.
