I still think Emma Watson would do the role justice , she has something in her that makes me think about classic Lara , maybe it's the eyebrows .

She really looks the part , I mean if the movies were a continuation of the movies with Angelina , then of course I would have disagreed , but this time around Lara is a more grounded character , she's realistic and believable and besides Emma is a great role model in real life for girls , has brown eyes and on top of all of that she is actually British and 21 .

I'd love to see Emma do it but the thing is she is doing more Indie films now. Although I'm sure somehow she'd love the role of Lara having already compared working on Deathly Hallows to working as Lara Croft. I think if she was asked she'd probably do it. Right now she's only got one announced film on her schedule and it's a small production. I doubt GK Films will make this reboot version of Tomb Raider over 100 million to film in case it didn't kick off so maybe it'd be a more relaxed shoot for her and maybe she'd do it.

I guess we'll find out later in the year. I do think GK Films are considering her for Lara though after that tweet from them a while back I wrote to them that Emma mentioned working on DH2 was like playing Lara Croft in an interview and they asked for a link. Maybe she's already auditioned for the role. There's a lot behind the scenes that we don't know but the script was finished two months ago they probably do have their director now and are just waiting for the right Lara to come aboard for a press release. They should do a Shortlist for the fans to drum up some interest after all Graham King said he'd be looking through about 20 girls deciding which one to play Lara Croft in his interview back in December. So why not test the waters and see which ones the viewer will react best to, it happens a lot of the time for new franchise movies.

Things are happening fast now it's all just a matter of timing. I'd say that the film will go into production around the summer and maybe release in April/May 2013 to contend with upcoming the blockbusters but just narrowly avoiding the big summer season to still make money. I don't know if it'd be a smart move to make it come out during the summer season for a starting out reboot so I think Spring or Fall of 2013 is a likely window unless there is enough interest for Lara again after the game hits.

Well I don't think it will be too long last thing we heard they were in the "creative process" of "bringing in directors to talk to" and that was on December 1st now it's over two months so I hope that it isn't too long. If they start filming in the summer of this year what I assume they will then the next few months could be the start of us seeing the cast filling up.

I know I just hope they hurry up and announce the director, to me that's probably the clear sign of how well the film will be made.

I'd love Gore Verbinski to do it but realistically I think he's preoccupied with The Lone Ranger.

You are right a great director makes all the difference . As long as it's not Uwe Boll we are safe .

Here's a morph of Emma and Lara :

They should get an experienced director who has actually made good films not someone like Simon West (who did the first TR), Jan De Bont had done a few good-ok films before Cradle of life though, he did Speed (which was very highly received) and Twister (which has above average reviews). Mind you, I'm going by their movie scores on Rottentomatoes.
However if there is one director that I do not want to see making this movie, it would have to be Paul W.S. Anderson

Oh yes Paul W.S. Anderson , keep him away from this franchise , he has already ruined one .
