Hmm, if I had to guess then, I'd be willing to bet it's the recovery exe patch more than anything else. If it was for sure working fine before, that's the only component of the modpack I can think of that would potentially cause an issue on different setups.

Just so we can rule out whether it's that or not, would you mind installing a very slightly older version of it for me? It should have all of the relevant fixes the newest version has, we're just wanting to see if the game will load up with it or not.

Here's a link. It's from Sasho, the creator, himself so it's perfectly safe.

Don't worry, no trouble at all.

In any case, that was more or less a test anyway to see if anything changed. I still think it's potentially something to do with the recovery patch. I'll keep looking.

Same here. If all was well before installing anything from Rescued, as aaron said, then it must be something out of the modpack. The question is what exactly.

The exe is what I'm thinking potentially right now. I'm not sure why it would be making such a fuss, but there's really nothing else in there that should be causing any sort of error like this.

I don't have AOD on Steam myself either, just my disc install and GOG as a backup. I'm unsure if Steam itself is interfering with anything. Sometimes the Steam Overlay causes issues with certain games but I don't think that's what's causing this. I'd love to know if it has something to do with aaron's Steam install being in Program Files but I'd really hate to have someone go through all of that trouble to change it/reinstall for something that may not even be the issue.

Another typical solution worth trying: Go to the AoD root folder and launch the game using TRAOD_P4 exe. If TRAOD_P4 isn't present then go into the bin folder and copy TRAOD_P4, then go back up to the root folder and paste here and double click to launch.

I doing a playtrough with this ultimate patch. I think the police in Paris Ghetto should be activated. It add an extra tension at the beginning of the game.

I'm actually inclined to agree, at least as an optional tweak. But not the one Sasho made way back when. It really needs to be rebuilt from the ground up around the latest fixes.

Reason I agree is that we know plenty now about how Core intended the ghetto to be more dangerous to traverse. It's implied that Lara is supposed to be constantly on edge in fear of running into the police. That's actually what the sewer points are for, to avoid them. Plus, we know that Core also didn't intend for you to have lethal weapons for a while, so it would've made getting around them even harder. But it's more rewarding I feel than just constantly having to cross the street.
