Why would Phil make these statements directly after the purchase of a major gaming studio. He certainly didn't make them out of the goodness of his heart. This is business, this is capitalism in it's purest forum. I'll trust Microsoft's handling of this as much as I trust Google with my private data. If it earns them a profit you can bet they will pull the trigger. People keep bringing google and amazon and while there is a possibility of such a thing, that isn't an excuse for Microsoft at all. If we had competent lawmakers then we wouldn't have to worry about corporate takeover of the gaming industry period. Every single one of these companies are out for themselves, especially Microsoft. There no honor among these entities. It's all a game, a bid to see who can outpace and outperform the competition, even if it means snuffing the competition out. I've seen enough of this crap in my life time to know exactly where this road will lead. If Microsoft was honorable then they wouldn't suddenly make all of Bethesda games exclusive right after saying how they planned to support the competition. They wouldn't have to play around with the meaning of their words if everything they said was honest and trustworthy.

Because the likes of Netflix and amazon don't want to make money? Its valid to bring them up. How is them acquiring the studio and then barring access to the games behind a subscription no one currently has to pay, and will still not have to pay now, any better? Given Netflix pulled put their Stranger things content from dead by daylight to promote their own game of a completely different genre, do you honestly think it would have been better? Someone was going to buy the studio. Personally I'm happier someone who is based in the world of gaming has them.

Charmed, I think you’re giving too much credit to the government right now. Most of the time when the government talks about video games at all it’s to say they cause violence and we should have less video games.
They’re not gonna give one iota of a **** about Microsoft acquiring Actiblizz

https://twitter.com/RepJerryNadler/s...Jws74Kimg&s=19 I'm not saying they are going to drop everything and work on this issue. I'm just saying when it comes time for them to review this deal as they review all big deals like this I hope they make the right decision.

Yeah, I think governments see video games with a bit more nuance now than they used to.
Though on the matter of sexual assault, Microsoft seems to be doing pretty well, so probably a point in their favor on review. |

Video games aren't really the government's concern. Business is but MS will have a good legal department and I suspect they'll use their angle of honoring exclusives/ protecting the industry from outside sources that are more damaging for the consumer in the long run. I doubt MS has done enough to be considered as having a Monopoly.
