Make sure you arent running the game (via the disk) directly for example.

The exe to run the game should be placed in a folder that is read writable. Saves will then appear alongside this exe. It sounds like you may be running it directly via the disk

Yes, but what type of exe does that shortcut point to? Does it require the game disc to run or are you playing without it via a patched exe? Where is the game installed?

Are you able to save if you run the game directly from the patched exe?

Never do that! When you install stuff in C:\Program Files - it's protected from writing/changing. That's why most modern games are storing their save files separately either in My Documents or in C:\Users\*****\Roaming for example.
Reinstall the game to a dedicated Games folder on other drive/partition than the system one.

While this could be protected/permissions related, it seems that their game is refusing to save at all. By default, if the game is installed in Program Files, saves that are made should be located in the VirtualStore folder: C:\Users\*insert username*\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Core Design

...but as the game appears to be refusing to save, I doubt that any savegames are being generated anywhere.

@ddw04 If you're still unable to save after running directly from the patched exe (I'm assuming you're using either this or this exe), then move your game to another location such as a dedicated games folder (as suggested above), the Desktop or Documents folder and proceed to make a save. If successful, the saves should then appear alongside the exe.

ive installed all my games there and never had an issue, new and old. well atleast i believe i did. unless i have a reason i want to install somewhere else i always just use the default location the program uses
