Yeah I know it can't be done inside Wadtool, but I just wanted to know the process. Using UV-mapped models is not the route I want to go, I just want it to be like in Stripx where I can texture the model.

I would use Stripx but I'm confused on how to do it with a TR2 wad. I can't open data files in Stripx, so Id need to download a wad and open it in Wadmerger, save it as a wad file and then open it in Stripx. But the issue is, one of the things I want to retexture is exclusively in a tr.3 data file, which if I open using Wadmerger, it messes up the textures. So I try to open it in Wadtool which works but then I can't export the model/mesh to open in Strpix with the correct textures. I'm so confused.

Unless I'm doing something wrong. It just seems all quite complicated for a new program which works so much better in other ways. This process would take 5 minutes if I could open files in Strpix. Hmmm.

I basically just want to retexture stuff in a TR2 wad.

^ I know who used dxtre3D, they use pixstr to extract the textures/modify and come back already in the compiled.tr2 that you open a ready version. More in that case you would have to use fexmerger and add new obj and use pixstr for applying textures. I know these steps to use the classic engines. Not if any builder USES another way.

Yeah I'm personally using Wadmerger, strpix, and WadTool. Generally I'll use the old tools when creating objects from scratch (with an old Autocad), then move them over to WadTool.

I use WadTool for all of my animations now. It's also amazing in concert with Blender to modify objects that already have UV Mapped skins, allowing me to create high-detailed enemies

I would love to be able to easily go back and forth between wadtool and strpix, but I'm patient

This will not happen because it is complicated as far as I know.

Next version of WadTool will finally feature ability to remap vertices. This will finally allow you to use UV-mapped Lara models without problems with skin joint vertex indices. You still have to manually edit vertex indices though.
