I think it's pretty well known that when the Unfinished Business add-on was released, the developers intended for it to start right after the end of the main game, but Core made them put the Egypt levels first, and the Atlantis levels last.
Has anyone ever figured out a way to fix this, so that they play in the proper order? Yes, I'm aware that the remastered version did this, I'm talking about the original game. I tried just changing the order of the levels, and while that did put the Atlantis levels first, the textures were all wrong. Obviously something more would be needed to make it work properly. |

I assume you tried that renaming the .tub files but you should be able to go even further with Tomb1Main, now that it features a gameflow json file that you can edit in notepad.
I imagine you may just be able to cut and paste each levels script entry into the *correct order*, while keeping it's level name, .tub name, OST soundtrack ID, key strings etc etc intact ![]() Finish trigger IDs in tr1 and gold always go to the next level in the slot - so I imagine this should work good! Re actually trying to make this a permanent change in a pre-tomb1main version of UB, I don't imagine that'd be easy at all or even possible as the gameflow is embedded in the .exe files originally. Yup. I even tried editing the filenames within the EXE file. Looking at it in a hex editor, they allocated 16 bytes for each name, so I edited the file, making sure to preserve the size of each name (padded with 00), but that gave me the same results as renaming the files.

And Windows 10/11 are the only viable choices for Windows, since pretty much every software author now requires it. I also want to be able to run emulators, and they all now require Win10/11. Because you know, earlier versions of Windows just weren't capable of actually running any software. ![]() Quote:
Even though there are more modern solutions, there's something satisfying about putting together the best possible version of the original game. For example, the PS1 audio tracks have Lara saying "Use the d-pad to go into the music room.", but the DOS version uses the keyboard. So I recorded a sample of Lara saying "Use the direction keys to go into the music room.", then cleaned it up as best as I could to match the rest of the PS1 speech. It's not perfect, but at least it refers to the proper controls. ![]() |

You could try using TR1X and paste the file from this link into the "cfg" folder. As long as you installed the game properly with all the game data first, it should work.

Actually, it's a Windows XP system. Yes, I know: "GASP! HORROR! It's not supported any more! Even having it near the internet will get it infected with viruses!!!"
The hardware itself is a Core-2-Duo, with 4GB of RAM (the motherboard supports more, but XP doesn't), a GT430 video card, and onboard sound. The video card has its own dedicated sound hardware, but dosn't provide an audio out, just HDMI, so if I use the card for sound, I can't use my speakers, or headphones. Yes, I know I could put Windows 7 on it, but besides the fact that I don't have a copy of Windows 7, I really don't want to just nuke my main system and start over from scratch, losing all my settings and such in the process, without something to fall back on. I never had the money to just buy a new system. I now have the parts to put together a decent system with a decent graphics card. Note that my definition of "decent" means, much better than what I have now, not "decent" compared to state pf the art systems today. There are a few small problems I have to solve (the motherboard is a small form factor with both back and front panel connectors on the board, and I want to put it in a much bigger case, so that I can add a more powerful power supply), but I should be able to work those out. The main stumbling block is what OS to use. Windows seems the obvious choice, and I'd put Win7 on it, or maybe even 8.1, but pretty much all the current emulators (Gamecube, PS2, Xbox, PS3, Xbox 360, even some PS1) require Win10/11. I just don't like letting Microsoft have free reign to change my system. I don't want to wake up and find that they've installed some new program or enabled some spyware "feature" like Recall. If there were a way to disable forced updates, it would be fine, but all I've ever seen are ways to pause them for a set period of time before you're FORCED to install them. Then there's Linux, which I know absolutely nothing about. I've used some Linux command line programs ported to Windows, but I know nothing about any of the GUI environments, or how to install programs, or how to install the libraries that they need, etc. At this point, I just want to use my system, I don't want to have to learn an entirely new OS. Plus, I have several quite large Batch scripts I've written, which I use almost daily, none of which would work in Linux. Do I build a system, put Win11 on it, then never connect it to the net? I mean, if Microsoft will graciously allow me to install their glorious programming masterpiece on such an unworthy system... |

You can't run the ATI version on your computer? The GLrage patch supports OpenGL 3.3 and above so your video card should be supported

If I try running TombATI before I extract the GLrage files, it says it failed to start ATI CIF. After extracting the archive, no error messages at all. I suspect that something in one of the files was compiled for Win7 or above, and so it just fails to work on XP. |
