Default HD JC textures Tomb Raider full walkthrough video

Full video walkthrough of Tomb Raider (1996) with magnificent textures from John Capon.

In high resolution - the game was played in the resolution of 1600x1200. The first ten levels were also recorded in that resolution. But the YouTube format does not provide for viewing videos in this resolution. Only 1080. Therefore, the last five levels were recorded in the resolution of 1440x1080. They also have better color reproduction through the use of another codec.

In these videos you will not see any extraneous fragments - the entire recording has undergone the deepest frame-by-frame editing. There is nothing superfluous - the player’s comments, recordings and saving downloads, stupid failes and repeated passes, unnecessary opening and closing menus, etc.
This is really a walkthrough, not just a letsplay video.

All levels look like a single film with a linear plot.
So, as if this is a feature film with one actor and almost without words.
It is at least just beautiful.
The videos in the game are also of improved quality - from the video pack.
Soundtrack also from the audio pack.
The licensed version of Glidos was used.

Of the minuses - excessive video compression. Unfortunately, the old video editor did not allow creating videos with a volume of more than 2 GB.
In the first levels, overmodulation of sound is observed in some places.
But it is bearable.
First ten levels have grave frame rate problems. That's the way how the videos was captured. I can do nothing with that.

Features of the walkthrough:
- the first-aid kit was never used,
- only ordinary pistols were used as weapons.
- I tried to kill all enemies, even those you do not have to kill to pass through.

Hello.
Yes, I just noticed.
But I wanna remaster those first 10 levels. Using new codec.
Maybe they will be a little better.

i dont think it's a problem with your capture and encoding but with the textures themselves. he removed almost all colours

I must say I much prefer Quest's texture set. They're 95% faithful to the originals, and thus retain the original art style, only elevated to HD.

This.

When I was making some HD 128x128 textures for TRLE, I actually worked ontop of the original set - having them side by side for colour picking etc

yeah, this is a wonderful walkthrough but i do take criticism with john capon's textures in particular... for some reason he thought it would be a good idea to make everything mono-colorized and it takes away so much visual interest. it makes the game look boring. tomb raider has mostly featured interesting varieties of color and it's disappointing to see that all stripped away

Not to mention the videos are a bit choppy (15 fps exactly) and Paul Gardiner made those texture packs compatible with TombATI.

I appreciate your effort and I thank you for bringing a brand new walkthrough, but this game can only look so much better (30 fps, solid/not wobbly polygons, true widescreen optionally, better colours...).

Cheers!

Atlantis in particular looks brown, washed-out, too dark and lacking any vibrance.

Shame someone couldn't edit the textures to add colour to them while preserving the HD factor..
Though would this be allowed?
