Default Google working to block mixed content.

Not sure if this will be relevant to TRF or not, but I saw this article where Google announced that it will be blocking videos and images and any content that doesn't go through https.

I know Justin already implemented the rule that images and videos can only be embedded with https sources, but I thought I'd share this anyway.

Chrome will upgrade any non-secure elements to https which will fix older threads referencing non-secure elements hosted on our servers. I don't forsee any problems for the forum.

As you stated all assets must now be posted using https.

I assume a lot of the 'post images of...' threads could be affected, since they might include pictures embedded via http. If the image hosts in question do not serve the image via https as well, they won't be displayed anymore, right?

In Chrome they will be blocked/not displayed if they can't be upgraded. The thread will still load however.

I thought so. Too bad. There's just too many gems in those threads to lose them. But if Chrome actually implements automatic redirection to https all might not be lost. Most image hosts redirect to https anyway these days.

-- Edit: But good to know the thread will load at least

We also redirect. For example this will redirect to https.

Great, so disruption might actually stay at a minimum

Eventually I'll block connections to port 80 completely but it's way too early for this atm.
