Arrow Mass Effect: Andromeda

  • Genre: Exploration-based Action RPG
  • Developer: BioWare Montreal
  • Publisher: Electronic Arts
  • Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4
  • Release: Spring 2017

  • Story
    • The game takes place in the Andromeda Galaxy, "far away from and long after the events of the original trilogy," and is "very much a new adventure."
    • The player is part of the Andromeda Initiative; a multi-species endeavor with the goal to find a new home in the Andromeda galaxy.
    • Four Ark ships were sent to Andromeda, each one from a different race.
    • The Nexus is a Citadel-like hub station that arrived in Andromeda before the Ark ships, and is populated with a variety of race.
  • Characters
    • The Player Character is the child of the Human Ark's Pathfinder. Although skilled, the PC is not known like Shepard, even at the start of Mass Effect 1. The story is about that person gradually becoming a hero after becoming the new Pathfinder of the human ship.
    • Alien squad members confirmed
  • Alien Races
    • Some alien races from the trilogy are returning, such as the Krogan and the Salarians, which have been redesigned to some extent.
    • Andromeda has its own races, of course, one of them being the Kett.

  • General Gameplay
    • The galaxy map will remain as a means of interstellar navigation.
    • Co-operative MP is preferred to competitive.
    • Customization may be refined, allowing more options. The armour is designed to be customisable based on adding (or "snapping") of armour pieces to a base.
    • An under-armor system is also being developed. The exterior armor pieces don’t have to be on the player at all times, instead being “built” upon the casual clothing, therefore maximizing customization and visual aesthetic.
    • Combat is “a point of exploration”.
    • The game is taking the theme of space from the original trilogy, and making it as a place in the new game, a part of exploration.
    • The use of biotics in combat is going to make a return.
    • The jatpack will have a prominent presence in combat.
  • The Return of the Mako
    • Described as “speedy”, and is capable to maintain her acceleration while travelling through heavy snow.
    • They are building a game about exploring places, thus the Mako will play a role.
    • Mako will have new physics, so it can be as responsive as possible. Customizing Mako might be an option. It is sleeker and faster but has no apparent cannon.
    • Mako thrusters not confirmed :(
    • Concept art for the Mako seems to indicate that its capacity is limited to 3 people.

Although I found the trailer disappointing, I'm quite pumped for that

Oh, and once again, great job on the OP

I absolutely love Mass Effect, but the trailer was the definition of underwhelming, really. Still, I can't wait for it!

And thanks! I'll eventually redesign the OP once we get more footage. Working with stills from the trailer is very limiting.

Great job with the OP. I love it

I'm so hyped for this game. Although I was upset when I found out that it wouldn't be Shepard and the team you fell in love with. But I'm excited to see what Bioware come up with. After playing DA:I I have so much hope for this game.

I'm also excited for a whole new Galaxy to explore. At first I thought they mean it as the galaxy is redesigned but then I thought new galaxy all together.

The only good thing from the trailer is Johnny Cash.

Very informative OP. This might actually be the first Mass Effect game I'll get

I misread the title to Mass Effect: Anaconda...

I have been listening way too much to Nicki Minaj

Looking forward to this game. It's looking great.

What about character creation?
It doesn't say anything about it there, although it does mention gender selection, are the characters preset now?.

You're making an art form out of opening posts, LP

99,73 % sure it won't be. They just haven't delved into any details like that yet but you can most definitely expect a character generator similar to (and likely much better than) what we had in ME1-3.

I suppose the character creator will be similar to the one in Dragon Age Inquisition. Bioware said that there will be some similar things between those games. I just hope for more long hairstyles and less variations of the bun/ponytail

Im pretty sure I can remember reading you can play either as a male or female human. No multiple races like in DA:O and DA:I
