Maybe not then

And the final cut scene absolutely kills me every time I see it, the subtle smile after picking up the blade, as if she is thanking Core Design for everything they have done and walking off to carry on adventuring....into the unknown

They probably knew halfway through it would be their last... I'm so happy that they left the biggest memoir to date that a lot of people still remember.

Whenever I play, as much as I love AoD, I find myself re-structuring the game so the pacing in the beginning is better. The short version is that Parisian Backstreets up to Mlle Carvier's Apt would be one action-packed game opening level to really draw the player in, then the ****ty Parisian Ghetto levels would be eliminated with an explanation for Lara to be fast tracked to Bouchard in a cutscene, depicting their meet, and the Cabal, and then the next level would be Louvre Storm Drains.

One day I'll write up the long version.

There are so many tidbits of information we know was to happen, so many fascinating speculative theories and fan writing that if the best of everything was taken and combined, it's possible that a better story could be stitched together than the one we would have gotten.
Alright then. I'm glad I'm not the only one here, who likes reimagine things.
I will read it, if you give us the long version.
I don't think we could do it better, but I just love to do this, design videogames (not only TR) on paper... or in my head.

Right now I'm thinking about Lara's escape from that pyramid. I just can't see how this was possible. If I want to remake it, how could it be?... I would definitely use this part in the game's beginning, it's important (and interesting enough if you ask me).

"Somehow Lara had escaped the pyramid." - Great.

I didn't know it, thanks.

If you come to a logical conclusion let me know! I also like to explain things to myself but the pyramid thing is just impossible. Would be nice to hear good theories (Fans are coming sometimes to amazing and logical theories).

Didn't Core mention details about the Lara of Arabia period? Or it was fan theories?

The primal game looks interesting. Was Primal made by core design too or was it a different company?

Now that you mention it! There were novels where I think it was even mentioned how Lara escaped, but I'm not sure. Are they even canon? Is the explanation good (If there is one). Always wanted to read them and never came to it.

@ Peeves
Primal wasn't made by Core Design, and yes it's a really great game (Unfortunately it sold bad, but it is until today one of my favourite games, great story, gameplay and controls)

I don't remember the novels xD I read them a long time ago. But if Putai was in them, then they must be canon, because that character was intended to make an appearance in AOD.

Oh, and I agree on what you said about Primal. A true gem.

3 characters from AOD were deleted ie Putai, Luther Rouzic, and Jean Yves.

Yeah, Core was serious when they decided to kill Lara.

Well... I presume small cavities/holes formed after collapse, and she was there in one of them. Okay, let's say this happened. But after that how did she get out? How did the tribe notice her? ._.

I never knew what I should think about the novels. Once I started read the first, but I didn't like it somehow.

But what if she was not really Lara?
what if there was a remake with different characters (for example the name of my "blond Lara" will be Venesa)?

And the story will be a little bit differant (For example:When Lara was 5 years old, Eckhardt asked her father to find the obscura paintings. After couple years of research her father finds out that Eckhardt needs them to awake the sleeper, he refuses to continue the research and Eckhardt steals Lara form her father and says that if he wont continuethe research he will kill Lara..
Time goes on and Lara's father continues the research and Eckhard raises lara as his own daughter and trains her to be a professional killer.. By the time Lara turns 17 they found the placement of the last painting, Eckhardt decided that he needs to kill Lara's father and he asks her to do it. Lara goes to her fathers apartament to make her first kill ever, she points the gun on her father without even knowing that that is him..As her father sees herhe is trying to explain her what happend 12 years ago, she doesnt know if to belive him.. he gives her a notebook with en explanation of what Eckhardt's plan is, she looks at her father, there is a flash of light and the sound of a gunshot, she knows that she didnt shoot him, but the police started to chase her..She comes back to were she and Eckhardt used to live and she founds out that he left.. She opens her dads notebook and realizes that she has to find the paintings, destroy them and kill Eckhardt)
excuse me sir,go to Columbia to write scripts for TVshows
p.s. as I remember there are official novels about how Lara survived in Pyramid and comes to Paris.

This has to be until today one of the craziest easter eggs in a game (The Protagonist actually even destroys this very one tombstone and no other ).

Edit: Before anyone asks the grave reads "R.I.P Laura Croft 2003" (I think Laura because of copyrights etc.)
I'v checked this game and its cool how graphics and 360 control works in 2003. wish AOD had same .... :\ I'm sure if AOD had 360 camera control, while gameplay ,franchise would survive.
