The new show is based on completed source material however.

Plus, the entire Lord of Light/Jon Snow aspect was basically meaningless, including Melisandre. Also, after everything building about that, randomly making Arya be the one to kill the Night King because "badass girl power"... extinguishing Jon Snow's and Daenerys' Fire and Ice destiny entirely. The entire Night King storyline ended up feeling more like a random side quest before getting back to who will claim the Iron Throne, devaluing nearly everything from earlier seasons. I'd go a step further and say "House of Dragons" would be best, since the Targaryens are "dragons" in a way, and it matches "Game of Thrones". Last edited by .snake.; 25-08-22 at 11:47. |

We watched the first episode. It was OK. Had to get in some HBO sex of course. I feel like HBO does that now because it's tradition, not because it adds anything.

The winter wasn't actually over in one night. By the end of show, you can see that the winter had reached Kings Landing (in the South) where it typically never snows. My understanding is that the winters in GOT world, when it does come, are very long (yrs) and are a real hardship. And because an especially cold winter finally came, the Night King and his horde were able to move south into lands populated by people.

The sex scenes are super awkward. Like it's hard to tell if it's a serious artistic thing or HBO having an excuse to get a lot of people to watch soft core porn. Me and my mom love GoTs, but god those scenes are the most alwars of them all.
![]() In terms of the original show I wasn't actually too bothered by season 8 besides the stupid BS where the dragon didn't rip John Snow apart. He just killed Daenerys and the dragon was just like, "ok brah, peace" so stupid and dumb. The fact they killed her off like that was even more stupid. The twist where she goes crazy was also dumb. It makes for some good cinematography, but story wise it was rushed. In terms of HoTD the first two episodes are ok, but I heard rumors the show really finds it's footing after episode 3 so will wait and see then.

So how does everyone feel about this show so far? I quite like it but just like Game Of Thrones, the show makes changes that are just stupid and make no sense.

We are enjoying it.
I'm about to enjoy it a LOT more because I think we're gonna get way more dragon, which is the best thing about it for me. ![]()

I like it. Somehow it's creepier. It's interesting that it's been set during (comparative) peacetime.
