That drawing was an inspiration to get shading right and to reinforce the look of it with an outline. Congrats!

I changed my colour style a bit, because people often tell me that they are very alienesque, and applied outlines to the shapes nuanced by gradients still.



People told me that you couldn't fit hexagons together in a solid... Well, I may have just provided the illusion, inspired by math tiling honeycombs.

Thank you! I'm drawing a background so that the solid isn't floating in the middle. It's a pattern made of regular hexagon tiles, darkened so that they don't take focus from the center.

Edit: and here it is. The background is to show the difference between hexagons aligning with each other and getting curved to form a solid.

Heres a short clip of me using the oil glazing technique- adding thin transparent layers to achieve more vibrancy, something the old masters did ( still new at this) enjoy!
