Isn't the whole point of a golden age, that you only have one? Sorry if i'm being pedantic but I always assumed that's the way it worked.
96-99 feels like the only true golden era for TR. It never did, and never will get anything close to being that big ever again. |

Imagine your only personality trait being a triggered mean gay on a Tomb Raider forum.

This is what happens when you create a new IP with existing titles. If the survivor games had been their own thing, they probably wouldn't have been as successful however it would have it's own audience. Survivor fans would be happy, and TR fans would be happy. Everybody wins. But one has been replaced with the other and there's now always going to be conflict. Season 2 will have Sam drama. If there's a 3rd season the Sam drama will be replaced with something else, and the cycle will continue. |

I’ll reserve whether I think the franchise is in a golden age when TR12 comes out, but certainly as a classic fan – I very much feel already treated to such wonderful remasters. I’d absolutely love if there will be new and fresh surprises for the lovers of the classic era after all the core games are remastered. Something they seem to be hinting on… this to me would mark a golden age.
I feel positive about TR12 but it’s such a make or break moment that I can’t really say whether I am excited. I am anxious about it, but wish to weigh the odds they can extrapolate all the best bits of every era and create something fresh and new with it. This would certainly be the ultimate treat. |

Anyway this is the most TR content we’ve gotten in ages so it is kind of a golden era. Just because you personally hate everything doesn’t mean the franchise isn’t delivering. Last edited by Tommy123; 11-01-25 at 03:44. |

IMO, Core Era Tomb Raider was the golden age. The so called "golden age" is gone as far as I am concerned.

Never heard of Disney's second golden age from the 90s ?
It's also called Disney Renaissance. ^^ So it's not specific to one era. |

TR12 needs to be announced before another AAA, single-player, third-person title ends up swallowing the series and gaining too much space

Not even close. I was in the 90’s. Nothing will ever compare for the slightest and nobody who hasn’t lived that will understand how much big of a deal Tomb Raider was. It was a social phenomena and it was set at the right moment and the right place.

Thank you Evan C. I couldn't have said it better than you have.
