Isn't the whole point of a golden age, that you only have one? Sorry if i'm being pedantic but I always assumed that's the way it worked.
96-99 feels like the only true golden era for TR. It never did, and never will get anything close to being that big ever again.

Imagine your only personality trait being a triggered mean gay on a Tomb Raider forum.

And totally agree about the classic outfit. I admit I'm taking breadcrumbs at this point after so long.
The remasters are happening at a good time, even if it is quite late in the game. I just wish the rest of the content and the next title in the franchise would follow suit in "classic-ness". And no that doesn't mean tank controls.

Though it's not ideal to celebrate duals and shorts/backpack/braid coming back (even though they never should have been discarded in the first place ), I'm glad they returned and that TR is more touch with its roots since I dunno decades??
If Dallas was the one to greenlight remasters then he does get some credit. But at the same time he's also greenlighting projects that actively go against the concept of "Tomb Raider" imo. Also the anime which heavily contradicted the reboot. It just feels very messy, nothing has meaning and Tomb Raider's identity is completely lost.

You don't alienate the new fans you just acquired, it's bad business. However, it's all been painted in rather classic like "recolour".
It's not that I blame Dallas, it is what it is at the end of the day. I just don't really see things improving due to Dallas because of how far off course Crystal have taken the franchise at this point. No matter what they do they have to alienate some fans because trying to please everyone just won't work imo, and Unified Lara is a good example of that.

This is what happens when you create a new IP with existing titles. If the survivor games had been their own thing, they probably wouldn't have been as successful however it would have it's own audience. Survivor fans would be happy, and TR fans would be happy. Everybody wins. But one has been replaced with the other and there's now always going to be conflict.

Season 2 will have Sam drama. If there's a 3rd season the Sam drama will be replaced with something else, and the cycle will continue.

Worst, imagine having between 30 or 40th hating a franchise on a daily basis because you don't vibe with one or two version of the character and making it your entire personality online.

I’ll reserve whether I think the franchise is in a golden age when TR12 comes out, but certainly as a classic fan – I very much feel already treated to such wonderful remasters. I’d absolutely love if there will be new and fresh surprises for the lovers of the classic era after all the core games are remastered. Something they seem to be hinting on… this to me would mark a golden age.

I feel positive about TR12 but it’s such a make or break moment that I can’t really say whether I am excited. I am anxious about it, but wish to weigh the odds they can extrapolate all the best bits of every era and create something fresh and new with it. This would certainly be the ultimate treat.

I love how I didn’t even mention you and you got triggered lmao. And if being a mean gay is defending people from you being transphobic then I guess call me Regina George <3

Anyway this is the most TR content we’ve gotten in ages so it is kind of a golden era. Just because you personally hate everything doesn’t mean the franchise isn’t delivering.

IMO, Core Era Tomb Raider was the golden age. The so called "golden age" is gone as far as I am concerned.

Never heard of Disney's second golden age from the 90s ?
It's also called Disney Renaissance. ^^

So it's not specific to one era.

TR12 needs to be announced before another AAA, single-player, third-person title ends up swallowing the series and gaining too much space

Not even close. I was in the 90’s. Nothing will ever compare for the slightest and nobody who hasn’t lived that will understand how much big of a deal Tomb Raider was. It was a social phenomena and it was set at the right moment and the right place.

Thank you Evan C. I couldn't have said it better than you have.
