Jeez. The IGN posts are worded so negatively you’d think I wrote them.

Same. It’s actually really well done. You can tell the person making it is a fan.

Fascinating article and unfortunately what I pointed out before months ago; the big worry with MGM is if their distributor they partnered with United Artists Releasing has the bandwidth and capacity to release Tomb Raider 2 as this is specifically mentioned here. That lines up with Superman's report a while ago that MGM was trying hard to get Warners to board the sequel.
For those who aren't Business savants: You need $100M at least in marketing for a blockbuster like Tomb Raider and that is a lot of cash; a private company like UAR typically wouldn't have that amount in reserves, only public traded companies like Warners or Sony. https://variety.com/2020/film/news/n...le-1234819582/ I do agree with the commenter on that article; I could see Apple buying MGM outright and therefore owning Tomb Raider which isn't actually a bad choice as Lara Croft always had a great relationship with Apple. Bond is just getting too expensive and I don't think they can "sit out" the Pandemic. Last edited by GeekOfComedy; 31-10-20 at 19:52. |

I’ve been saying this for literal months that they can not afford to just wait out the pandemic and I’ve been called every disgusting horrible name under the sun for it.

Apple could market tie in games for future release really well if the rights went to them, unfortunately we may have to prepare for the case that if MGM will eventually sell to a new company then it will re-assess the assists and there could be a longer pause or a cancellation/reboot scenario.

Well at least we got a new movie in 2018.
Maybe they will reboot the movies series further down the line with a different actress. Shame. As of now I think that everything is in the air. |

Is there anything truly new in that article though? UAR had the money to make it but don't want to run into the trouble they are having with Bond by going ahead and filming it with no release date in mind because the pandemic hence the delayed release date. It doesn't say its cancelled or anything the issue is they need someone to bankroll and if Superman's posts are legitimate then Warner Bros coming back makes sense.
I can forsee them striking a deal to send Bond to streaming and waiting until things are clearer with Covid to kick-start production on Tomb Raider. If the production delay goes beyond mid-2021 then I think we should start assuming the worst but hoping for the best. Last edited by Tonyrobinson; 01-11-20 at 12:19. |

just had a great idea to build a time traveling machine so we can hire Angelina Jolie at the age of 18 to play RLara! how legendary!
