Question Question that I have always had

Its a bit hard to explain so I hope you can undestand me. I really like to watch tomb raider classic games speedruns (it happens in regular gameplays too but less) and I have noticed that people is literally drawing lara's gun every time they do something. They press a button, use a key or whatever, and inmediately, they draw guns and turn around. Does it have a current purpose? Thanks, kind regards.

Lara turns / rotates faster when she has her guns drawn. That's probably why they do that.

But I'm sure, a speedrunner can give you exact numbers

They also do this to have the camera behind Lara's back. For instance, when they enter an area that causes different position of the camera, they avoid this by having the guns drawn.

Here is an example. Look at 2:46. If the pistols weren't drawn, then the position of the camera would change and it would be harder to avoid the boulders. Another example from Temple of Puna in Tomb Raider III, the speedrunner does this at 1:14.

When you rotate Lara, normally she begins by rotating slowly then quickly accelerates up to a maximum rotation speed. However, when Lara is holding a weapon, she instantly begins rotating at the maximum rotation speed. Speed runners take advantage of this to make it easier and quicker to get around tight corners.

I have no idea if this is a glitch, or an intentional decision by the developers to make fighting enemies easier.
