Default The forgotten game that rose from the ashes of Angel of Darkness

https://www.thegamer.com/the-forgott...t-tomb-raider/

I've never heard of this game Without Warning that rose from the ashes of Angel of Darkness also it's unnecessary to refer to Angel of Darkness as the worst Tomb Raider and a disaster.

In the link above it says the controls were dated, sluggish and frustrating and that the frame rate nosedived so much it felt like you were playing in slow motion.

I never had an issue with the controls or the frame rate, once you get used to the controls which didn't take me long Lara is easy to control for the most part, the only time controlling Lara was irritating was when trying to get her to aim at Boaz's week spots after the first weak spots had been destroyed.

Also I think that Eidos were too hasty in taking Tomb Raider away from Core after just one failure, Core had 5 successful games before Angel of Darkness but because of one failure Tomb Raider was taken away from Core, Core should have been given the chance to put things right and if they had been given that chance continued with the Angel of Darkness trilogy.

Well Circle's Without Warning died almost before it was born, they had plenty of warning. It is no surprise not many remember the game. They never learned the lessons they should have with what went wrong with AOD.

Most of the anger with players having issues with AOD, was on the PS2 version, you do not ever release a console game half baked. They released a woeful Beta version of AOD, and some fans were never going to forgive or forget that. While some might have fallen in love with the story, characters and what we were promised we were going to be playing, the sales for the next game would have been woeful, Eidos had to do something drastic to save the franchise.

You could not say Crystal Dynamic failed to deliver a well polished game with Legend.

Sales being low for the next game is purely speculative, we'll never know for sure as Core were never given the chance to put things right.

Maybe if there had been a new development team for the next game we might have gotten the second part of the AOD trilogy, after being forced to release a new TR game every year for 5 years it's not surprising that the development team was suffering from burnout.

1 failure alone is IMO not a good reason to give development of Tomb Raider to someone else, Core should have been given the opportunity to put things right starting with a new development team that would have carried on the work of the previous development team with the previous team staying as consultants.

If that had been done with the workload being split between the new team and the previous team then the next game in the AOD trilogy might have been a success and Tomb Raider would have stayed with Core.
