I warm myself to the idea. I read the theory that Davros may gain forces and heal himself from the Doctor's regeneration energy, episode The Witches Familiar. I really like that. In the meantime, the series can show more positive or complex disabled characters. That would be a smart move. The "classic Davros" can still return years after that, at least after RTD will give the showrunner hat to another writer. That way we can't accuse the show to only use stereotypical and evil disabled characters... And TBH, Moffat did add some layers to Davros the last time we saw him, anyway.

Technically aren't all Daleks evil wheel chair users? Is this why we're are having a break from them? Seems like a bit of a stupid reasoning to me. I don't ever recall anyone kicking upna fuss over this. Daleks float anyway.

Yeah, I think ever since Nation wrote Genesis of the Daleks, the race before mutation was know as the Kaleds. In fact, the 4th Doctor gets a surprise when he hears the name Kaled and mentions that it's an anagram to a Kaled before stopping and realising and not mentioning the name Dalek. Anyway, I'm fine seeing a version of Davros before his accident. I like that they got the same actor who played him in New Who.

So ! What do you think of The Star Beast ?
Let's say it was a real pleasure to be able to watch at the same time as y'all in the UK ! ![]() Here's the new opening and theme :
It was a really nice episode. Quite simple, a family friendly one. It reintroduced us to Donna and 14th quite well. Some of their interactions were emotional. They way they solve the "If Donna remembers the Doctor her head explodes" problem works, well enough for me. I can't wait to see the other two !

SPOILERS BELOW
I'm not using the spoiler tags because I can't edit the text in it. It was alright, not as good as I was hoping. I really hope the next two episodes can pick up the slack and we get some better acting and stories. Rose's actor was pretty bad, extremely wooden for most of her lines, didn't come across genuine at all, especially when she found meep. I liked the idea of the doctordonna needing to return and I liked the idea of the the metacrisis passing down to Rose so it wasn't overwhelming one person. The shed and the toys were a good twist too. However, the "non-binary" aspect was cringe. It would have been a clever solution if it wasn't so on the nose. Also I wasn't much of a fan of how they shrugged off the metacrisis issue. Donna's story was tragic and that's why it was so good back in 2008. For them to just brush it off so easily spoils it for me. But I'll quote the lines I have an issue with... Doctor - We've got to fix you two, the metacrisis may have slowed down but it's wrapped around your cortex. Donna/Rose- Yes we know. We know everything, thanks. And you know nothing. It's a shame you're not a woman anymore because she'd have understood. We've got all that power, but there's a way to get rid of it. Something a male-presenting Time Lord will never understand. Just let it go. Sorry but this is incredibly insulting to not only The Doctor but the whole franchise. How anybody thought this was good writing and a good solution I will never understand. But maybe that's because I'm male-presenting myself? Who knows. This logic makes no sense because if The Doctor suddenly turned around and presented as a female... he would have immediately worked out how to solve it? This is just idiotic. It's stuff like this and the whole "did you just assume the alien's pronoun?" made me eyeroll several times. This episode is Strike 2. I feel like I'll watch the rest of the specials and the first episode of the next series to see what Ncuti is like, but will probably duck out because I'm just so tired of everything I love just ending up being ruined. I had hope with RTD's return but as time goes on it's proving all to be false hope. The same will happen with Tomb Raider I'm sure.

My only issue was the way Donna and Rose just 'let go' of the meta crisis energy. I understand that having Rose take in some of the energy was what helped Donna handle its power and I liked that part, but that they could just decide to let it go because they're female, kinda cheapened the risk a little. Maybe I'm overthinking it and was expecting it to be more complicated. Was it Donna being female that was her safeguard in The End of Time? She just didn't know it and it kick3ed in just in time? The doctor knew then that he'd given her this safeguard at the time. It's confusing. I loved The Meep. Sylvia redeemed herself in this one. It's clear that She and Donna's mother-daughter relationship has evolved.
As for the next two, I love that we know so little about them, especially The Wild Blue Yonder.

@Rai
I agree.
You're not overthinking it, it was a cheap resolution to a very dangerous situation. RTD should have been able to think of a better solution other than to "let it go" because they're women. It was a slap in the face frankly.
