Default Can’t make fire jump into water in Floating Islands

I can’t make the jump from the ledge into the hole in the fire. I see where the walkthrough goes but I just can’t make it. Is there a way to make the jump or skip levels? I’m almost at the end of this game and I can’t get past it. Please help!

I finally did it with the swan dive! I didn’t know that made the jump further

Indeed, "It is supposed to be RB+X (R1+Square) until you reach"

I think it may be possible with a another precisely made jump but the swan dive is the most reliable.

17.09.24 EDIT

Went back to TR2 and found I have a save probably kept for just such questions and I've made a short sequence showing that you can do it without needing the swan-dive.

As I thought was the case, if you hold (X) ie. Action so LC is in the grab pose throughout the jump she will still make it too.
