Mind you, how the ship is a mess on the sea bed and is like something out of 'The Twilight Zone', ie, some of it is upside down and other bit right side up, and further bits stuck inside a semi-submerged cavern
Yeah, those ship levels were bizarre. I still don't understand what was the deal with Deck.

That's an interesting piece of trivia. Will take a note. Thank you.

About this, I quote the following post of mine:

The whole structure of TR2 is modelled after Chinese theology-cosmology (cf. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php...ldid=833429163); every element in the game has a precise symbolic meaning:
- The serpentine Great Wall;
- The Taijitu-like symbol of the Dagger of Xian (i.e. "Dagger of Immortality");
- The Seraph (i.e. "Fire Serpent") that opens the way to find the the Talion, which, inserted into the (probably) yang dot of the Taijitu-like symbol, gives access to the Temple of Xian (i.e. "Temple of Immortality");
- The "descent" into the depths of the Temple of Xian, and the Dragon Seal which gives access to even deeper rooms thereof;
- Then the "ascent" to the Floating Islands, the last station before having access to the Dragon's Lair.
- Even little details such as the name of the Fiamma Nera (i.e. "Black Flame") are not accidental.

TR2's structure is literally a path of esoteric initiation and alchemical transmutation.

However, it would be interesting to have, above the flaming gate to the Dragon's Lair, a close view of the seven stars of the Little Dipper/Small Chariot constellation of the Precessional North Pole. According to Chinese astro-theology, this is the last station before the ascended ones have access to the constellation of the Dragon at the Ecliptic North Pole (the true Supreme Pole). Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was definitely in there. Not only was the Dagger scene shot in a very similar way to the Kali Ma scene (Lara is even watching from the same angle) they even used audio from the scene itself. Maybe the heart motif was inspired by the movie too.

Decrepit Winston might've been taken from the 1967 version of Casino Royale where the original James Bond has the same kind of butler in his mansion, carrying a tea tray that's clinking because of his tremors.
