sometimes I feel that the weather service can be a bit OTT when it comes to storms, every time there's a storm here in Ireland they make it sound like there's going to be cows flying through the air and Day After Tomorrow style weather and all we get is a few heavy rain showers and some wind which is nothing more than a normal day in Ireland.
My mother is the same every time there's a storm forecast she acts like the end of the world is imminent. There was supposedly a storm today, didn't feel like one. https://youtu.be/aKhknsN8M9U?si=Fm-p9hJnOD7G2HV7 https://youtu.be/GmjAp2eRDH0?si=zT9ihDxQPsmglbYB https://youtu.be/iOWeOnT_EzE?si=z2FH-xz7cL2ECIao https://youtu.be/dkErNkX2HKM?si=T7fccCB_PkyebsKG When watching that last video at 1:50 I noticed that even though the building is shaking none of the bottles on the shelves fell to the floor. Anyone else here ever get tired of how OTT the weather service can sometimes be? |

Yeh, storm Ashley is about to hit us tomorrow, Ireland, Scotland and some of the west coast of England (on Sunday). Just hope it all blows over fast as i am supposed to be going on holiday by car ferry on Monday, assuming the service is running. If not I have a 250 mile detour by car |

Depressed and lonesome; I'm just tired of picking myself up just to fall back down, if that makes sense. It took me everything I had to get out of bed after doing my chores, because otherwise, all I did today was stay in bed.

I checked local media an hour ago some power outages across the city and county, I wasn't affected by any power outages, a few years ago we had a power cut that lasted 4 and a half hours that IIRC was due to a fault somewhere. I knew it was coming when the sound from the fridge stopped, a minute later the lights went out annoyingly it happened just as I was about to have something to eat, the neighbours across lost power instantly compared to us. The novelty wore off after a while then boredom set in with literally all to do I left the cat outside until power was back she's very quiet when creeping around the house, the next day I bought some torches my dad was against getting the torches saying we should just use our phones for some light which wasn't a realistic idea. It wouldn't be the first time he said something stupid many years ago the house was constantly being invaded by bluebottles, when their entry point was found it was a hole above the back door he didn't want to fill in the hole, his stupid suggestion for dealing with the bluebottles was to keep the door to the garage closed, he was forced to block the hole. Those bluebottles were very annoying everytime I killed one another would show up it's almost like there was a nearby factory with a bluebottle assembly line sending me a new one everytime I killed one. Whenever he does something he always does the very bare minimum, when he hung a picture on the wall he used sticky pads instead of a hook it didn't take long for the picture to fall down and when the rail/pole holding his shirts collapsed from the weight of all the shirts combined he again did the very bare minimum and hammered a nail under each end of the rail/pole. The shirts again fell down and I told him to do a proper job this time and to do it by himself and not to ask for help as he wouldn't get any, he had to learn the hard way not to go with the quick fix. |

@Dragonslayer.....Weather has died down this morning and just checked ferry website and ferry is running OK, so no detour required, Horray!
The great advantage of the ferry route is that my caravan holiday site is just a mile from the ferry when I get there. Yeh, holidays |
