Default Question. Which stories influenced Tomb Raider 2?

Putting together a book club/Twitch marathon for Tomb Raider. Wondering which stories influenced Tomb Raider 2? Lost Horizon is one I instantly recognized. I'm also throwing The Tibetan Book of the Dead in there and Mafia Republic. Anything I'm missing which was a big inspiration on Tomb Raider 2?

The symbol with the snakes, could be derrived from tintin in the sigars of the pharaoh.

The story of tomb raider II reminds me of the story of Marco Polo.

Breaking the gondola has been inspired by James Bond's Moonraker. Including the sound of breaking glass.

The story of flying with the plane and landing in Tibet comes from Indiana Jones (the one with short round).

The tomb of Xian comes from a myth about the first emperror of China. The floating islands also from chinese mythe.

Which Emperor? Red and Yellow Emperors of Xia, Tang of Shang, King Wu of Zhou or Qin Shi Huang? I feel like it's the latter.

If I have to choose one, I would choose Qin Shi Huang. It's because the great wall was built at that time, not earlier.

Okay. So emperor in Xian with the terracotta army. (He was also a murderous tyrant.)

Listen to any interview the Core devs do regarding TR2 and they mention the 1986 movie “Big Trouble in Little China” as an inspiration.

Titanic. One of the YouTube videos mentioned that the ship levels had the placeholder name Titanic during the beta or the marketing stage.

Though it was also based on the SS Andrea Doria, the Italian passenger liner that sank on July 25–26, 1956, after colliding with the Stockholm off the coast of Nantucket in the Atlantic Ocean.

Mind you, how the ship is a mess on the sea bed and is like something out of 'The Twilight Zone', ie, some of it is upside down and other bit right side up, and further bits stuck inside a semi-submerged cavern

^ That's interesting, I didn't know about that bit of history tied to Tomb Raider 2. Cool!
