OMG at people saying TRA was a good remake. People seriously need to play TR1 then TRA and then play RE1-REmake or RE2. That is how you make a good remake. You don't butcher the controls, the atmosphere or the level design, you only improve upon it. TRA had some improvements (a few levels do surpass the original, but only a small few) but overall it is clear it's made by someone with a shallow understanding of TR1 and what made it fun and memorable in the first place.
On another note: I don't think remasters will happen at all. The franchise is not in a place where it truly wants to celebrate its past, it is looking more to the future. There also is TRA's not so impressive sales, classics's controls would need to be thoughtfully planned out on how to be updated and keep the challenge of platforming in a good and organic way (which isn't an easy task), the exploration and puzzle solving gameplay is not what the GP is after, and honestly unless it was outsourced to a different company, I don't see the remasters/remakes being well received by fans at all, because we'll most likely just get TRA again. |

No you said Crash/Spyro are "more fun to play" from a gp point, yet those games aren't action heavy.

If they remasters/remake these, and i absolutely want that happen, i expect a Core's TRAE sort of treatment, same animations with revamped controls, levels ripped from the originals and remastered.
Also what i think they may do, is use their Lara Croft series design for Lara, and the actual classic outfit would be a unlockable. I'd still buy and enjoy it anyway. Just please don't make everything grey and boring like Anniversary. |

I wouldn't necessarily mind Keeley voicing Lara for them, but I know some people wouldn't like that and I too would prefer Jonell or a new actress who sounds like the old ones. Again though I don't think these remasters need to be ridiculously high budget and have an expectation to sell millions. Not every game needs to have this weird tunnel-vision of wanting AAA production and success. Sometimes things can be made lower budget with a more niche market in mind, and I would want that for classic remasters, I don't want to see their identity and art style watered down to suit mainstream tastes. If you don't like the classics or wish to re-visit them then k cool, they're just not for you and that's why it's a niche game. I do think they could benefit from sped-up animations and controls where possible though. If it's a 1:1 level recreation then the grid system probably has to remain in some capacity (albeit hopefully really well-disguised) but I want Lara to move through the world more smoothly and quickly. |

TRA is not a good game and doesn't count as a remake (imo) just a watered down version of TR1. And not faithful at all to the original.

TRA is a good game, and this I can say with certainty. You may not like it as a hardcore fan vs TR1, but the game is pretty well polished and a mostly enjoyable adventure from beginning to end. And what do you mean with "watered down"? TR1 is a pretty simple game, and it doesn't hold the "difficulty" of, let's say, TRIII or IV either Last edited by Vaskito; 21-05-19 at 19:20. |

The whole argument that classic Lara doesn't sell well based off of TRA or the cheaply done ported skins just don't make sense. TRA is NOT classic Tomb Raider and most certainly not Classic Lara, it's a reskinned Tomb Raider Legend that is a watered down imitation. CD has NEVER made ANYTHING faithful to classic Tomb Raider, not GoL, not ToO, not TRA, not Frozen Omen, not anything. The closest thing to that would be Lara Croft Go, and it's still not there and we get no personality from Lara really. That said, in order for a classic TR to succeed, through remaster or otherwise, it has to actually be CLASSIC and not some unfaithful imitation that is just similarly skinned. |
