tr6 wont happen because it's an unremasterable game. if you touch anything besides the graphical quality, then it stops being a remaster. if anything else but the graphics isn't touched, then it is a faulty product to be released to the public.
sure, it is being the most talked amongst the fans, and i'd looooove a complete TRAOD game, but common sense needs to be aplied here too |

I agree though. AoD has challenges far beyond the scope of a remaster. But if they do decide to “restore” or “fix” it then I won’t be mad either. |

Even Wikipedia says: "In a wider sense, remastering a product may involve other, typically smaller inclusions or changes to the content itself. They tend to be distinguished from remakes, based on the original". Therefore, a re-make is a new product based upon the concept of the original; a re-master is the same original product which is subject to upgrade, improvement, and completion. For TR3 they added moves, Willard's boss music, and even an extra cutscene. They've already broken the seal on this sort of thing so I'm sure nobody will complain if AoD gets polished.

Exactly, and think of all the new skylights and the completely new ceiling in that room in TR1 Palace Midas.

They can advertise the games as 'Remastered and restored', that's it.
But, it will be sold as 'Remaster'. |

It would be wonderful if Angel of Darkness ever gets completed. I think that would be the first time a game like AOD gets re-released years later in a fixed state. Could possibly be a lot of good press.

I mean when it gets right down to it, a remaster is exactly what it states on the tin. In gaming's case, it refers to a re-mastering of the original game and assets for compatibility with modern hardware. We're just used to it accompanying a graphical overhaul alongside it as well nowadays.
There's absolutely nothing stating that a remaster has to only be the base vanilla games with no other notable improvements. And restorative projects like what AOD needs are a bit uncommon sure, but not completely unheard of either. Still marketed as remasters though, because it's still technically the original game - not a remake. Quote:
But even if nothing else, the amount of press you'd get on that? Turning one of the biggest disasters in gaming on its head and making it actually fun to play through and experience? Oh yeah, that's definitely a good reason. I think more than anything, it just needs to be reasonably laid out about what the game actually needs. Core fell into the trap of trying to fit all their ideas in at once, changing things constantly, and breaking other things in the process. It needs fixes first and foremost. Then from there, decide what the game actually needs. Refine features even if necessary. The unfinished nature of the game actually gives it a lot of leeway, because people won't be so beholden to what weren't particularly great implementations in the first place. |
