I actually enjoyed this film, even with its rather poor special effects, backgrounds and papermashe type alien costumes. Plus actors I had never heard of. (if I have suffered decades of Doctor who cheap cardboard sets, I can suffer films like this LOL) The story was good, as based on the books of Edgar Rice Burroughs . I do have it on DVD and kept it, so there must be something about it I like ![]() |

We watched Justified: City Primeval (following our binge of the original series.)
I enjoyed it more than my husband. He has lots of issues with child actors, so the first few episodes including Raylan's daughter annoyed him. The villain is a true psychopath, charming and deadly. Anyone hoping for a Boyd Crowder cameo will not be disappointed. We also just started Rez Dogs on Hulu. Charming series about some kids on a reservation in OK.

Finished Resident Evil: Apocalypse. In my opinion it is the best of the bunch. The best parts of the movie is Sienna Guillory as Jill Valentine and the musical score. Sienna Guillory is about the best choice for Jill. Wish we could have gotten a movie with just her and no Milla Jovovich.

The Craft (1996)
The Craft Legacy (2020) The second one is the reboot of the first. The story is about 4 teenagers who find out to be witches and to have magical powers. They are both very enjoyable. They have many similarities but also many differences. A curiosity: on the soundtrack of the 1996 film you can hear the same song which will be theme song of the serie Charmed in 1998 |

^ I watched The Craft last week, I've yet to see the reboot but I know Nancy makes a cameo appearance.
Charmed is more synonymous with the How Soon Is Now theme song, but I've always found it interesting that it was used in The Craft first. |

Yes, Nancy makes a cameo, infact it's not very clear if The Craft Legacy is a reboot or a sequel. Anyway it's a good movie, imo, and I'm surprised it was not well received by audiences and critics.

Resident Evil Extinction is the third of the series. It's not the worst but it is one of my least favorites. This is the one were I think the movies started to really go off the rails. Worst part for me is how they killed off characters from the previous movie. Other than that it really doesn't go anywhere. The sound track is a bit lacking in memorable music.
I would also like to mention another problem. The domestication of the zombies. They clearly ripped that off from the 1985 film Day of the Dead.

I do think RE:Apocalypse is a top-notch action movie that is unfortunately underrated I only watch the first, second and fifth RE movie.. maybe I should revist the third, forth and sixth to see if my opinion would have changed over the years ![]() On the topic of The Craft.. the original is a dark teen classic about how power corrupts and the sequel is about sparkles and fun and fighting The Man. There's really no comparison. Although Timmy is pretty rad, I watch for his arc and Nancy's cameo

One of my favourite scenes in Apocalypse is when that infected woman jumps off the roof and it zooms into a closeup of her body. My least favourite Resident Evil movie is The Final Chapter it's not as great as the others and it's a little too fast paced for my liking as if it was in a hurry to get to the end as quickly as possible at the expense of the story which was for lack of a better term bare bones. What I didn't like the most about The Final Chapter is no explanation given for what happened to Leon, Jill, Ada and Becky and that we didn't get to see more of the battle that Afterlife ended on. Take Resident Evil Extinction for example was it fast paced yes but there was room for character development as well and there wasn't big set pieces every 5 minutes it was broken up with quieter scenes in-between. I wish the White Queen had appeared in more than one movie I liked the Red Queen but still think that the White Queen should have appeared more than once IIRC one of the possible scripts for the following movies had a storyline of White Queen Vs Red Queen. Welcome to Raccoon City while not great I did like it for 2 reasons 1 the references to various Resident Evils and 2 the very accurate design of the RPD. I still haven't seen Resident Evil Death Island or the Resident Evil TV show I know it was considered to be 💩 but it can't be worse than Resident Evil Infinite Darkness can it. I would have liked to have seen a Zombie infested New York and Washington DC, think of it most like San Francisco in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes with the city still largely intact instead of completely ruined with Zombies instead of Apes. If there had been a completely ruined Washington DC in Resident Evil think of it as being like Washington DC in Fallout 3 damaged buildings, streets blocked by rubble and Zombies everywhere. |

You are right about the White Queen. They just dropped the whole use your blood for a cure thing too. Both Red and White Queens would have made for an interesting conflict. Resident Evil Extinction with it's quiet scenes were pretty good. Though the whole movie being desert gave it a bland look. The next movie breaks it up a little but the color pallet still get subdued to much in the beginning. Then a stark contrast at the end. So I did just finish Resident Evil: Afterlife. Still don't think it's a good movie but I don't think it is bad either. They do drop plot points from the last movie. For all it's faults it does do somethings right. The ignoring the world is desert now is good. Because the T-Virus drying up lakes and rivers never made sense. Also, I do like Wesker more in this movie. This and Resident Evil Extinction are about the same level for me. While having Chris was nice, he did go to waste. Same with Clair. Could have done with less people. But we apparently needed cannon fodder. The best part of the movie was the Axeman fight scene. He came with some memorable music that I like. The credits scene with Jill is why I sat through this movie twice in the theater. Just couldn't get enough of her. Well just one movie left. Resident Evil Retribution. That will be for next week. This one is my most guilty pleasure of the lot of them. Only watch it for Sienna Guillory.
