Nope, she's excellent

I'm going to call her... Samara? Laram? Croftura? Nishoft? Croftam? Nishara? Yeaaah, I'm not very good at this

Thank you! It was tough choosing what bits of each character should go, but I think I made it work

How about Sara? (pronounced like Sarah)

Default Sock paws

So I decided to do an experiment today. I wanted to make sock paws to dabble into the areas of costume making. I saw a tutorial on YouTube and thought to myself, "this shouldn't be too difficult", I was soon to change my mind however. Here's my progress of this little journey.

I gathered everything I needed to make these things. Faux fur, foam, socks, glue gun, the whole sha-bang. I was ready for anything!

I started off by tracing my foot and roughly sketched out how I wanted the toes to look like. Then I cut them out to use as a rough reference for when I cut the foam.

Hacked out the pieces with my X-acto knife. The foam was too powerful for my puny scissors.

I shaped them up and hot glued it to the socks! This part was pretty fun and went fairly smoothly. Happy with how it looked, I started to duct tape 'em.

The reason why you duct tape them is so you can draw out your design and cut it off to use as a pattern to help you cut the fur. That's what the tutorial said anyways. This was the part when things started going downhill.

Cutting these things out was a complete nightmare. I only have one foot cut out atm and I'm dreading cutting out the other one. Cutting duct tape with a slightly dull X-acto knife is not very fun. Not to mention the tape liked to pull on the foam and take some with it.

Time for the fur! This is the part where I started to get very annoyed. I was many hours into this project, I had essentially lost all ties with society, and the tape had done everything in its power to piss me off. It kept sticking to everything, making tracing it onto the fur very difficult! A lot of the fur pieces didn't fit all that well on the sock.

Well, after a bunch of gluing (while accidentally burning my fingers multiple times), I finally got one foot done. I worked on this project for about 13 hours straight and I'm very tired so the other one won't be done for a while.

Well it didn't turn out TOO horribly. Still not that great though. It's very snug, and some of the glue soaked through the sock so it kind of feels like there's a layer of plastic on the inside. It doesn't feel terrible to wear, just kind of strange. I'm glad I experienced this and have something to show for it, but yikes it was very annoying towards the end. It was my fault though for marathoning it and not taking any breaks (besides eating dinner). I don't know when I'm going to get the second foot done.

That's pretty nice. I don't really understand the duct tape step. You duct tape the sock with the foam toes attached to create a sort of mold for the fur? Wouldn't it be easier to use the sock as a sort of tracing on the fur material, then use the foam toes as a guide on the material, making sure there's enough to wrap around the foam? It's just that the duct tape appears to be making it more complicated and fiddly than necessary. But then I'm useless at crafts. I'd make a pigs ear of the first step .
