Sony’s plan to shift towards GAAS and it spectacularly backfiring against them forcing a change in tact back to their traditional exclusive model with nothing to show for i is what has stalled this gen. Last edited by jajay119; 14-09-24 at 23:12. |

Yes, Jim Ryan getting 10 gaas game in development (+other multi-player games) for a console brand that was built on having premium single player games.
I think it's good that he is stepping down. |

Didn’t he also make some rude comments about classics games? A very “ew, who would want to play those?” Kind of comment? I’d say him not running the company is definitely a good thing.

The Fallout topic is too old and not worth reviving just for this so I'll post it here, 2 words Preston Garvey

Jim Ryan is a classic example of how bad management can ruin things quite quickly. He hasn’t achieved anything in his 4 years at the helm. He did an interview where he talked about how Covid was so hard and he was so proud of successfully launching a console during that time… a time when everyone was at home and would have been looking to buy a console anyway. Let’s be real, given the abysmal mess Microsoft made of the Xbox One era and how successful the PS4 was the PS5 was a guaranteed seller anyway. Public perception hadn’t shifted back enough in Xbox’s favour to make a dent and is actually only really starting to turn around now - still nowhere near the 360/PS3 era balance though. As someone who had a PS4 and only got a series X because Ps5 consoles were so hard to get during the pandemic - I’m not regretful of the choice I’ve made and actually think Xbox have made some good choices this gen. I still feel no need to buy a Ps5 let alone a pro.
They’re a far cry from their PS4 heyday. Jim Ryan has sat on his laurels and the PS4 reputation as if that was going to be enough and what a surprise it wasn’t. There have been next to no notable games this gen. The shift to GAAS when public perception was clearly well against it and it being so far removed from what they’re know for leaving them in this void where public perception is starting to turn against them is honestly flabbergasting. It just goes to show not having strong competition is not great for Sony or for consumers. Last edited by jajay119; 19-09-24 at 13:43. |

At this point I only use my PS5 for the exclusives and played the remasters on it (because somehow it feels right to play classic TR on PS) |

My PS5 is currently collecting dust ever since i bought a PC. I only really play it for exclusives...which is like...once a year.
PC i have access to a much wider library of games, mods, and i don't have to pay a fee to play online. Plus the Steam refund policy is incredible. I just really don't see much of a point to the PS5 at all. |
