Default Tomb raider 4 crashing when I press escape

Hello guys,

I'm getting back on playing some TR4 custom levels, but after trying multiple different ones, I've got a huge problem...

Most of levels are starting by a cinematic, I can press escape however I want, nothing bad will happen

After the cinematic, I can move and play normally

Eventually in the case of King Arthur's Project, an info message pops on the screen, I can make it disappear by pressing escape without any problem

But any escape pressing that would open the menu closes the game instantly

Here is the "Last_Crash.txt" :

............... QUICK DIAGNOSTIC LOG ...............
.................................................. ..
CRASH REASON: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access.
EXTRA_INFO: VIOLATION ON READ AT OFFSET 0xD5FE336

ECX=B
EDX=E5380
ESI=80
EDI=10CF524C
EBP=E5380
EIP=477CE2
ESP=E76FD60

What's happening? It seems that opening the menu makes the game instantly crash...

Does anybody knows how I can fixe that?

Thanks a lot in advance

Hey! I can't confirm this fix will definately help, but adding the exe to Windows Data Excecution Prevention (DEP) list can sometimes help with random crashes that are not experienced by other users.

You also mention starting cinematics - if you're referring to FMV video files - you could try ticking "disable FMV" in the games setup window, which can also help with crashing situations sometimes.
