in b4 the rest of this post, i think both rise and shadow are fun games, they look pretty and sound well. beautiful gowns.

i disagree
the ludonarrative dissonance is one of the worst in any videogames ive ever experienced
there's no intersection between the type of gameplay you see in tombs and the one you see on the main story path
also it's padded like hell

commercial success means nothing when discussing the game and as for the reviews, the game's been criticized for being disjointed time and time again

It's still better received across the board than almost the entirety of the series and sold better than most of the games despite those flaws, because obviously it does have flaws, all games do.

yeah, those flaws being it's disjointed and lacks solid directing - which is most likely the result of having 2 different studios working on it (not counting nixxes cause they really only worked on blood ties). now imagine if 4 full studios were to be involved lmao

Yeah I think I understand what you're saying but I don't think the side tombs (which is what Eidos Montreal made) are as disjointed from the main game as you're saying. It's not like once you enter a side tomb you're all of a sudden playing a different game. They fit.

Ironically, Shadow, which Eidos Montreal worked alone on, feels a lot more disjointed, almost exclusively due to Paititi.

I think what peple are saying is that they liked Eidos Montreal's tomb design, like Crystal's polishing and finishing touches so the combination of these two featuring supplementary work by nixxes or whoever else would be an ideal scenario. Two studios working on a game together is not that unheard of. Four is a strecth yeah but we're talking about hypothetical scenarios anyway.

Core Desing LOL

Now seriously ... Eidos Montreal they did the most TR since Last Revelation. I'm surprised with the studios people choose (Naughty Dog? Serious?) I don't want an action adventure with great graphics ... I want a Tomb Raider with exploration, puzzles, a lot of loneliness, claustrophobia ... I think I would even choose someone like Nintendo ... I think a Zelda-style TR cell shading focused on exploring, puzzles, tombs would make me very happy.

Nintendo would probably make it a kid's game with a pegi 3+ rating featuring Chibi Lara and no blood or serious violence so it's a big no from me.

Agree on the Naughty Dog part though. It would certainly sell more and receive better review scores just because it's Naughty Dog but it would become even more mainstream-y and action-y and automated than it already is so it's a big no as well.
