Instead of an 180 degree turn you can just roll, that has the same effect. If I remember correctly, the 180 degree turn is still there when you use camera relative controls (meant for a controller), just like in the PS2 version. The tank control mode has the roll. |

Hey everyone, just some quick updates about the next release:
- Release 1.3.0 won't take nearly as long as the 1.2.0 release and it's currently being worked on. It'll probably be released alongside the definitive edition project demo by TRJTA. - It will mostly be focused on quite a big voice lines and audio overhaul, along with some other cool stuff in both the exe and the levels. You'll hopefully get a video sneak-peek in the near future ![]() - Here's one of the things coming in the next release: ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Well i must say that i really, really enjoyed my latest playthrough with all those changes.
And at first, i thought that i wouldn't even care that much about some smaller stuff, or just appreciate the fact that some features, and gameplay changes are there, for the sake of being there, but i changed my mind. As i was mostly looking forward to controls and camera changes, which i like a lot now. I rarely used stealth in my previous playthroughs, but i was shocked to see that stealth / cover shooting is functional, and is actually useful! Thank You! I've already finished AOD multiple times now, since the last update, and i get excited everytime that "Parisian Backstreets" starts and i'm reliving the adventure again. I really like all those new changes regarding item placement, voice lines. I now that most fandoms would agree, that any change made to the original, altering what, and how they remember it, is risky, and feels like walking on a thin line, but after what i whitnessed on my latest playthrough, You have my trust, if that means anything ![]() And finally, the combat feels a lot like in the classics, i saw YT clip showcasing some stuff, got me interested, it made me want to replay AOD again some day, but i had no idea that it would all work so well, and that the whole game would become so smooth, i guess one has to play it with all those small changes, to really appreciate the scope of it. It's Fantastic. Now my mind runs wild, wishing the levels were somehow expanded, and filled with a lot more enemies, but i'm still happy with what we're getting. I've always loved TR6, even in it's original state, and to think that after all these years since AOD was first released, some people will work so hard on fixing it's problems, and expanding the overall gameplay experience, for fans all around the world, that's mindblowing. Bio-Dome feels so vibrant, and much more alive now! The whole atmosphere is just killer. I'm spending much more time admiring, and running around every level, trying to notice everything that's new, to be honest i don't remember every little detail from vanilla version, so it's exciting to rediscover some things by myself, i'm sure i haven't noticed or realized everything that's new yet, and i'm trying to avoid watching every new clip form Reborninshadows's YT channel. I like pleasant surprises ![]() I got used to new controls, my preference is now to use PS2 control mode. I only use touchpad sometimes to adjust my view. But i'd like to ask about camera mode, as i don't remember how the camera worked in PS2 console version. Is the player able to look up using analogue stick while moving Lara? When i'm playing the PC version it looks like this: I mean, when Lara is standing still, the player can move camera below her, above her, and in all directions, while moving, player can only look from above, so it shows what's below Lara's feet, and look sideways, but somehow the player can't position the camera so it shows what is up, above Lara's head, is that normal? I hope this makes some sense. And though it's not a wishlist, i agree with Kurtis6, when it comes to those tutorials blocking movement, would like to know how to remove that. I'm super excited for further updates of AOD Restoration Project. It reinvigorated, and refreshed TR6 for sure. Thank You. ![]()

Thanks a lot for the awesome feedback Felix
![]() I get what you mean regarding the camera, as far as I know it is also like that on the PS2 version but I will probably remove that restriction in the upcoming release once I figure out how to do it ![]() As for the control locks during tutorials, I am conflicted about those because on one hand, they can be annoying but at the same time I also don't want people (especially newer players) to accidentally skip them by triggering another tutorial line. For now, you can skip them by pressing the Look button or you can use Nakamichi's multipatcher on your exe file to get rid of them. |

Sweet!
And i understand the thing about tutorials, and newer players, i like listening to Lara too, but i think, that a small note about tutorials in release notes could solve that problem, something along the lines: When tutorial line is triggered don't move until Lara finishes her lines, or they might end abruptly. I think missing one tutorial line is less frustrating, than constant control interruption, especially when someone likes to replay through the whole game with new skins. Besides when some new player would like to play with all new addons, then i guess it would be wise to not skip any release notes from authors before downloading, installing anything, and that could be mentioned in "README". But that's up to You to decide what to do with this. And would that Nakamichi's multipatcher safely alter only that one function, without removing any of Restoration Project content or corrupting EXE? I'm afraid that i might mess something up.

I personally could do without the tutorial locks. I like what Sasho did, they way it would skip to the next tutorial. As for new players skipping tutorials, I think most people using this mod are people who have already played AOD. I see new playthroughs on youtube every now and then and it’s mostly the vanilla version.
I wish this mod would be more talked about/known outside of TRF. It truly deserves to be the “standard” way of playing this game. |

I'm wondering about the story so far section...is it a recap of previous events leading up to AOD, namely egypt? Are you going to use the fmv released by Peter Connelly (if memory serves) some years ago? Regardless, exciting stuff as usual!

It's going to be the upcoming Myth of El Hawa animated short film which shows the events between TR4 - AOD. It's been written by Murti and it's been made to fit in with the game we ended up getting so it's a much better choice to add that in imo. I should also add that the amulet item will be added to the inventory at the start of the game following this addition (for story purposes of course). It's so exciting to read people's reaction in here. It really starts to feel like people are beginning to understand just how amazing the Restoration Project really is, and with that also my Definitive Edition (that 100% incorporates the Restoration Project) will be.
I am absolutely confident in saying that AOD couldn't be in better hands than with our Restoration Project / Definitive Edition team. Every single thing we've done for this project has been thought out extremely well and is always in line with Core's and Murti's original vision for AOD. It totally only improves on the game without ever diminshing anything the original game had. This is true for all the gameplay, control and storytelling improvements as well as the graphical improvements. Don't mean to hijack this thread, but I'm looking forward to the release of my Definitive Edition so so much. Can't wait for everyone to play it! ![]() ![]() Last edited by TRJTA; 11-10-22 at 16:36. |
